Las catástrofes: La nueva normalidad
¿Vistes la última portada de The Economist del mes de junio? Me ha tomado por sorpresa. ¿Por qué arrugas el ceño? ¡Ya te dije, a mí también me lo hizo fruncir!
Definitivamente, 2020 no ha sido el promisorio año que muchos deseamos al finalizar el 2019. Te veo en mi espejo revisando las metas y deseos. Al igual que yo, arrugas el papel, bueno... arrojas en la cesta de la pantalla del ordenador el inútil documento desecho por las actuales circunstancias globales.
La pandemia y sus efectos económicos ha trastocado nuestra rutina, hasta el extremo de escuchar expresiones tan absurda como "la nueva normalidad", ¿no crees que es una locura?
Abre otra ventana en la pantalla, ¡ves la ilustración! te muestran los eventos que saben están pronto por ocurrir, no porque tengan el don de la adivinación, claro que no, ellos disponen de información privilegiada, lo que no entiendo es el por qué la difunden en medios como estos, de seguro, tienen un propósito que aún no comprendo, si tu lo sabes dímelo por favor.
Ves los elementos dispuestos en la escena, no me preocupa lo evidente, si el simbolismo oculto, bueno, debería decir discreto o connotado, si tú tienes la clave para descifrarlo, no seas tan reservado, compártelo conmigo.
Te diré que veo... Veo a una pequeña familia: papá, mamá y un niño, con un gato, supongo, la mascota, todos están sentados en un sofá, usan máscaras anti-gases, inclusive el gato, excepto el niño, quien lleva casco de guerra, tiene la mirada perdida y en la polera se distingue el famoso símbolo de la paz muy usado en la década de los 60. ¿Qué piensas que intentan decirnos?
Los cuadros en la pared no dejan de ser enigmáticamente evidentes. Grosso modo, los motivos en los cuadros: el rostro de un cochino (origen del próximo virus con potencial pandémico), la erupción de un volcán (tal vez un súper volcán), un pingüino sobre un pequeño témpano (aumento en el nivel de los océanos), un asteroide que cae a la tierra (amenaza latente en el cielo), la representación de bacterias y virus (uno de ellos con corona sobresale del marco), el hongo de una explosión nuclear (reactivación de las pruebas atómicas) y por último, la llamarada del Sol. Te distes cuenta de las manecillas del reloj en la pared, los tres patos fuera de perspectiva y sus sombras que vuelan detrás de la familia, ¿qué piensas? Tal vez aquí, esté la clave.
Sabes amigo! Creo que tengo bastante por ahora, lidiar con el día a día me resulta agotador. ¡Si, entiendo tu punto de vista! Este es un artículo dirigido a los políticos y dirigentes mundiales, no hay agendas ocultas o conspiraciones, y en consecuencia, nosotros, los simples ciudadanos, no deberíamos de preocuparnos. Pareces muy convincente, pero dime o explicame eso de la nueva normalidad y el costo que implicará para cada persona.
Hazme un favor, si logras leer el artículo de la revista, ven y aclárame el panorama, porque la ilustración es para asustar a más de uno. Mientras tanto, no sé qué hagas tú, intentaré mañana volver a la vieja normalidad, en donde el miedo no sea la agenda mediática que domine mi vida.

2020 has not been the promising year that many of us wish at the end of 2019. I see you in my mirror reviewing the goals and desires. Like me, you wrinkle the paper, well ... you throw in the basket of the computer screen the useless document ruined by the current global circumstances.
The pandemic and its economic effects have upset our routine, to the point of hearing expressions as absurd as "the new normal", don't you think it's crazy?
Open another window on the screen, look for The Economist, you see the illustration! They show you the events that they know are soon to happen, not because they have the gift of divination, of course not!, they have privileged information, what I do not understand is why they spread it in media like these, surely, they have a purpose that I still don't understand, if you know, tell me, please.
You see the elements arranged in the scene, I'm not worried about the obvious, if the hidden symbolism, well, should I say discreet or connoted, if you have the key to decipher it, don't be so reserved, share it with me.
I will tell you that I see ... I see a small family: dad, mom, and a child, with a cat, I suppose, the pet, they are all sitting on a sofa, they wear gas masks (including the cat) with the exception the child, who wears a war helmet, has a lost look and the famous symbol of peace, widely used in the 1960s, is distinguished in the shirt. What do you think they are trying to tell us?
The pictures on the wall are enigmatically evident. Roughly, I observe the disturbing motifs in the pictures: the face of a pig (origin of the next virus with pandemic potential), the eruption of a volcano (perhaps a supervolcano), a penguin on a small iceberg (increase in the level of oceans), an asteroid falling to earth (latent threat in the sky), the representation of bacteria and viruses (one of them with a crown protrudes from the frame), the fungus of a nuclear explosion (reactivation of atomic tests) and by last, the flare of the Sun. You noticed the clock hands on the wall, the three ducks out of perspective and their shadows flying behind the family, what do you think? Maybe here is the key.
You know friend! I think I have enough, for now, dealing with day to day is exhausting. Yes, I understand your point of view! This is an article aimed at world politicians and leaders, there are no hidden agendas or conspiracies, and consequently, we, the simple citizens, should not be concerned. You seem very convincing, but tell me or explain that about the new normality and the cost that it will imply for each person.
Do me a favor, if you can read the magazine article, come and clarify the picture for me, because the illustration is to scare more than one. In the meantime, I don't know what you do, tomorrow I will try to return to the old normal, where fear is not the media agenda that dominates my life.
