The song was playing in my head while working on this painting. π
While browsing YouTube Shorts, my algorithm shifted to watercolor painting content. (I am not surprised!)
I like silent videos or ASMR. Gosh, they are satisfying. π€π»
I was motivated to make a Ghibli-inspired one, but something simple. I then had the opportunity to use my white pens for the shines. π
I chose the noodle bowl from the movie Ponyo.
I thought of magnifying the subject, eliminating the bowl.
And it was a time disaster for me. Haha! π π₯². Sketching and drawing the noodles individually was a pain.
I cannot make a shortcut here since it is traditional. It became a mess once I erased the pencil lines. Gosh, debris is everywhere. I kind of regret choosing this subject, but it was a nice practice.
I painted the entire paper with a light brown color. You see the paper is kind of bent because of the water weight. I needed to dry it up first before applying another color.
I first started with the meat by applying light colors and then building it up with a dull pink color. I then applied a yellow color for the noodles (pain).
I had to be careful applying color on the veggie as it can bleed through the noodles. I should have waited for the paper to dry more.
First layer is completed. ππ» I let it be for a day and continued it the next day.
For the noodles, I applieda brown color or shading. For the bowl on the corner, I chose a light purple and bright blue.
Finally, apply the white markers for the shine of the broth. It was a nice hand exercise but definitely time-consuming. I enjoyed a different outlet of creativity and am excited to do another one.
