¿Qué tal están todos?, vuelvo con la segunda entrega de Re:diseño por Pandiseño, una de las prácticas que hago como diseñador para mantenerme activo, rediseñando y corrigiendo logos que veo en la plataforma, mucha gente asocia el corregir con arreglar algo que está mal, pero rediseñar implica realizar modificaciones desde una posición personal y basado en conocimientos y gustos parcializados, en este caso los míos.
Nuevamente aclarado esto, esta vez decidí trabajar en el logo de Ladies of Hive, una comunidad muy popular con más de 4000 usuarios y cuyo objetivo (Según su descripción) es empoderar y dar un espacio a las voces femeninas dentro de la plataforma.
Everyone, I'm back with the second edition of Re:design by Pandiseño, one of the practices I do as a designer to stay active, redesigning and correcting logos that I see on the platform, many people associate correcting with fixing something that is wrong, but redesigning involves making changes from a personal position and based on biased knowledge and tastes, in this case mine.
Again clarifying this, this time I decided to work on the logo of Ladies of Hive, a very popular community with more than 4000 users and whose objective (according to its description) is to empower and give a space to female voices within the platform.

Como una gran mayoría de los logos utilizados en la plataforma, Ladies of Hive también decidió utilizar la base del logo de Hive; Si bien no está mal y supongo que cuentan con el permiso para utilizarlo, este logo carece totalmente de personalidad, de estructura y al ser solo una versión del logo base con una textura, poco habla de la comunidad y los valores que representa.
Uno de los errores más comunes del mundo, es el asociar el color rosa y sus matices con la feminidad, ya que no tiene mayor simbología y solo deriva en limitar una amplia gama de colores representativos, en este caso y no me preocupa decirlo, vivimos en un mundo de mujeres verdes, azules, púrpuras, negras y amarillas, chicas con distintas personalidades, aficiones y formas.
Cuando juntas ambos elementos derivas en la el Hexágono con la H, con un color rosa pastel en forma de textura, y poco más, como ya dije, un logo carente de personalidad, que no dice nada, sumamente genérico y que en múltiples ocasiones tienen que modificar y darle otros efectos para que destaque, simplemente pasa de ser la imagen de la comunidad al logo de Hive en otro color.
Like most of the logos used on the platform, Ladies of Hive also decided to use the base of the Hive logo; while it is not bad and I guess they have permission to use it, this logo totally lacks personality, structure and being only a version of the base logo with a texture, it doesn't say anything about the community and the moral values it represents.
One of the most common mistakes in the world is to associate the color pink and its shades with femininity, since it has no greater symbolism and only derives in limiting a wide range of representative colors, in this case and I am not worried to say it, we live in a world of green, blue, purple, black and yellow women, girls with different personalities, hobbies and shapes.
When you put both elements together you derive in the Hexagon with the H, with a pastel pink color in the form of texture, and little else, as I said, a logo lacking personality, that says nothing, extremely generic and that in multiple occasions they have to modify and give it other effects to make it stand out, it simply goes from being the image of the community to the Hive logo in another color.
Sabía que de este logo no era mucho lo que deseaba conservar, puesto que a mi parecer no es nada funcional y no destaca en lo absoluto. Lo primero fue analizar ¿Qué quiero representar?, y enseguida se me vinieron a la mente las palabras, empoderamiento, hive y femenino, por lo que decidí partir desde esa base.
En cuanto a los colores estaba seguro de algo y es que como ya dije, me parece que ladies of vive necesita un logo que no limite su paleta de colores y a través de esta variedad pueda representar claramente las miles de diferentes personalidades que convergen dentro de la comunidad.
I knew that I didn't want to keep much of this logo, since in my opinion it is not functional and doesn't stand out at all. The first thing was to analyze what I wanted to represent, and immediately the words empowerment, hive and feminine came to my mind, so I decided to start from that base.
As for the colors I was sure of something and that is that as I said, it seems to me that ladies of vive needs a logo that does not limit its color palette and through this variety can clearly represent the thousands of different personalities that converge within the community.
Una vez que tenía claro los conceptos que quería representar, lo siguiente fue realizar una síntesis que agrupase todo; ¿Qué representa a lo femenino?, una mujer obviamente, ¿Qué representa al empoderamiento?, el poder y la presencia, mujeres como Madonna o Sharápova, comparten un calificativo en común que implica el empoderamiento, el de Reinas. Y por último la colmena, queriendo alejarme definitivamente de la forma hexagonal que parece la salida fácil.
Aquí es donde aparece el verdadero trabajo de un diseñador, de una agencia de publicidad, de un encargado de branding, está en pensar, sintetizar, ordenar idea, agregar o prescindir de elementos, siempre he dicho que cualquiera puede ejecutar un diseño y es cierto que un primo puede hacerte un logo en Canva en 20 minutos, el trabajo de quienes nos dedicamos a esto va más allá de simplemente digitalizar.
Once I was clear about the concepts I wanted to represent, the next step was to make a synthesis that grouped everything together; what represents the feminine, obviously a woman, what represents empowerment, power and presence, women like Madonna or Sharápova, share a common qualifier that implies empowerment, that of Queens. And finally the beehive, wanting to definitely move away from the hexagonal shape that seems the easy way out.
This is where the real work of a designer, of an advertising agency, of a branding manager appears, it is in thinking, synthesizing, ordering ideas, adding or dispensing with elements, I have always said that anyone can execute a design and it is true that a cousin can make you a logo in Canva in 20 minutes, the work of those of us who are dedicated to this goes beyond simply digitalizing.
Creo que la imagen anterior ya hace Spoiler del resultado final, y es que hablar de una abeja reina, es lograr agrupar la totalidad de conceptos que representa ladies of hive en un elemento simple, representación de poder, orden, trabajo, lealtad, fuerza, coordinación, y otra enorme cantidad de calificativos bajo la corona de una ''Queen bee''.
I believe that the previous image already makes Spoiler of the final result, and is that to speak of a queen bee, is to manage to group the totality of concepts that represents ladies of hive in a simple element, representation of power, order, work, loyalty, force, coordination, and another enormous quantity of qualifiers under the crown of a ''Queen bee''.
Quise desarrollar una mascota simple y amigable, pensando un poco en que debido a las picaduras la gente suele temer a las abejas, pero en este caso desarrolle una abeja sumamente carismática e incluso con un toque infantil, para de esta forma dar a entender simpatía y darle un toque amigable, sin llegar a sexualizar el personaje.
Pero más allá de esto y permítanme echarme flores, diseñe un rostro tan simple que cualquiera, con conocimientos mínimos de edición y diseño puede tomar este personaje y modificar el rostro para tener miles de expresiones que permitan acompañar cada post, crear stickers, emojis y mucho más, en resumen permitir que la mascota cumpla su objetivo de acompañar a todos.
I wanted to create a simple and friendly mascot, thinking a bit in the fact that due to the stings people are usually afraid of bees, but in this case I designed a very charismatic bee and even with a childish touch, to show sympathy and give it a friendly touch, without sexualizing the character.
But beyond this, and let me tell you, I designed a face so simple that anyone, with minimal knowledge of editing and design can take this character and modify the face to have thousands of expressions to accompany each post, create stickers, emojis and much more, in short, allow the mascot to fulfill its goal of accompanying everyone.
Como pueden ver me deshice del rosa típico asociado a lo femenino, y me decidí por una paleta de colores basada en una escala desde amarillo pastel hasta el café, añadiendo un pequeño toque de púrpura a las alas que no solo contrasta con el amarillo como color complementario, sino que ayuda a darle sentido a las alas, sin tener que utilizar colores vibrantes como el blanco o demasiado saturados como el azul.
Con esto también logre que la mascota se pueda emplear sobre cualquier elemento o fotografía, y es que al tener contraste y una forma unificada, la abejita queda bien sobre cualquier fondo de color.
As you can see I got rid of the typical pink associated with the feminine, and I decided for a color palette based on a scale from pastel yellow to brown, adding a small touch of purple to the wings that not only contrasts with the yellow as a complementary color, but helps to give meaning to the wings, without having to use vibrant colors like white or too saturated like blue.
With this I also achieved that the mascot can be used on any element or photograph, and having contrast and a unified shape, the little bee looks good on any color background.
Esta vez no pensé en una fuente, elementos extra como Separadores o Banner, y es porque al ser una mascota y ver el uso que le dan al logo en Ladies of Hive, creo que esta comunidad lo que realmente necesitaba era un elemento que pudiese acompañar y adaptarse bien a los distintos estilos de cada usuario en la comunidad. Ya sea el Line-art para agregarle efectos, la mascota como Sticker o una animación, esta mascota puede adaptarse bien a múltiples elementos basándose en la capacidad de edición de cada usuario.
This time I didn't think about a font, extra elements like Separators or Banner, and it's because being a mascot and seeing the use given to the logo in Ladies of Hive, I think this community really needed an element that could accompany and adapt well to the different styles of each user in the community. Whether it's line-art to add effects, the mascot as a sticker or an animation, this mascot can adapt well to multiple elements based on the editing capabilities of each user.
Para despedir el post nuevamente quiero aclarar que no tengo nada que ver con Ladies of Hive, no existe una relación comercial, y aunque no tengo autorización formal de utilizar o modificar su logo, el objetivo de este post solo tiene fines de aprendizaje, prácticos y didácticos. Bajo ninguna circunstancia es con la finalidad de dañar, criticar o hacer mofa del diseño previo.
El objetivo de este post, es continuar mostrando como interpretaría yo distintos conceptos, recibir feedback y mejorar en un área que me apasiona, a su vez dando mi punto de vista para que otros usuarios tengan otra visión del diseño. Aclarado esto, espero no ofender e incomodar a nadie y si alguien tiene algún problema con lo expresado en este post, o las imágenes usadas en el mismo, puede comunicarlo.

To end this post I want to clarify that I have nothing to do with Ladies of Hive, there is no commercial relationship, and although I have no formal authorization to use or modify their logo, the objective of this post is only for learning, practical and didactic purposes. Under no circumstances is it intended to damage, criticize or make fun of the previous design.
The objective of this post, is to continue showing how I would interpret different concepts, receive feedback and improve in an area that I am passionate about, at the same time giving my point of view so that other users have another vision of the design. That said, I hope not to offend and bother anyone and if anyone has any problem with what is expressed in this post, or the images used in it, you can communicate it.
