EL ARAÑERO DE SABANETA

Allá viene el arañero
pregonando su dulzor
esas conservas con patas
arañas con buen sabor.
Llevo la araña sabrosa
también la llevo caliente
Pa' la mujer buenamosa
y Pa' las viejas sin dientes.
Me cuentan que de chiquito
era un niño preguntón
Firifiri le llamaban
de la clase era el mejor.
Su abuelita Rosa Inés
preparaba en su fogón
las arañas que vendiera
ese niño preguntón.
Pues un día se hizo grande
y a la patria fue a servir
con su ejemplo militar
construía el porvenir.
Quiso ser un pelotero
del beisbol profesional
pero prefirió seguir
su carrera militar.
Por el año ochenta y nueve
el pueblo se levantó
y alertando un "por ahora"
allá en el noventa y dos.
Llegado el noventa y ocho
nuestro líder resurgió
levantando la bandera
de nuestra liberación.
De arañero a Presidente
nos dió una Constitución
aprobada por el pueblo
y votada en elección.
El Arañero está vivo
sembrado en la población
y todo el que lo recuerda
lo lleva en su corazón.
THE SPIDER VENDOR OF SABANETA

Here comes the spider vendor,
hawking his sweet treats,
those preserves with legs,
spiders with a good flavor.
I have the tasty spider,
I also have it hot,
For the pretty woman
and for the toothless old ladies.
They tell me that as a little boy,
he was a curious child.
They called him Firifiri,
he was the best in the class.
His grandmother, Rosa Inés,
prepared on her stove
the spiders that that inquisitive child would sell.
Well, one day he grew up
and went to serve his country.
With his military example,
he built the future.
He wanted to be a professional baseball player,
but he preferred to continue
his military career.
Around 1989,
the town rose up,
and, warning of a "for now,"
back in 1992.
In 1998,
our leader rose again,
raising the banner
of our liberation.
From street vendor to President,
he gave us a Constitution
approved by the people
and voted for in an election.
The Street Vendor lives on,
planted in the hearts of the people,
and all who remember him
carry him in their hearts.
