When I was in my college days, I had seen the HRM students who was showcasing their skills on fruit and vegetable carving at school. I was really well-entertained by their creativity. And I told to myself, I would love to try it one day.
Hey Hivers!
Yesterday, I planned to do a fruit and vegetable carving but unfortunately, I was not able to do it so I did it today! I congratulated myself for the job well done (lol).
I never expected that I would be able to come up of this beautiful carrot rose with the help of my niece. By the way, my niece is a 4th year Hospitality Management student. In fact she was processing her application for USA internship. I hope everything will be ok. I am lucky today because even how busy she was on her on-line class she was still able to manage her time to guide me in this carving lesson.
I went to the market yesterday to buy white onion, cucumber, carrots and apple. These are the fruits and veggies needed in my carving lesson.
These are also the necessary stuffs needed. I forgot to include salt in the picture, I already mixed it in the water.
So my niece asked me to peel the white onion.
And cut it in a zig zag shape. At first, it was difficult for me. To those who are good in carving please bear with me. I know my way of handling knife was not appropriate. Please do understand. I admit that it was hard for me at first because I was not used to do it.
And this is my first output. It was not symmetrical but it was not too bad for a first-timer (lol).
Next, I sliced the cucumber into 4 pieces.
And I took out everything inside the cucumber except in the lower part. Although I did not made it neatly but I kept telling myself not bad for a first-timer.
Next, I sliced the carrot into a very thin size. It is a requirement.
And I placed it in the water with salt.
To get it easily dry, I placed it in between 2 tissues.
And then I formed it like this and rolled it.
And this is how it looks. This was my first output.
In the next output, I placed it in the cucumber.
I sliced the apple into a thin size and placed it around the carrot rose.
Although I made many mistakes of this activity, but I would still appeciate of how I did this. Just call me bragger, but I really like it. Never did I thought that I could make like this.
Do you know what? As I made this, I was not able to notice the time. I really had fun of doing this. Although it was tiring but I had enjoyed the process.
It's been long years ago since I wanted to try carving and I was able to fulfill it today.
I am so thankful to my niece for the guidance she gave me. Would you like to try it? Trust me it was really enjoyable.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
