Bueno, es sencillo de explicar, para los que no me conocen o saben mi abuelo materno es proveniente de la antigua Yugoslavia, específicamente de la región conocida actualmente como Croacia. Sólo en estas fechas se podían llevar a cabo los trámites de nacionalidad y pasaporte croatas. Ya que en Venezuela no hay embajada. La más cercana y la que atiende a los países de Venezuela, Colombia y Brasil es la Embajada de Croacia y Brasil y por eso se organizan los días consulares en unas fechas específicas durante el año. Y este trámite estaba parado desde el año 2019 y como consecuencia a esto en Venezuela habían casi 200 trámites pendientes.

Por otra parte, mi tío nos llevo el día viernes 18 de marzo a nuestra cita. Llegamos y entramos al lugar, este contaba con su decoración croata. Especialmente con pinturas hechas por pintores Croatas. También habían algunas fotos, sombreros, botellas de licor w croatas, entre otras. Nos atendieron muy bien, respetando las medidas de bioseguridad. Al llegar tuvimos que llenar una planilla de control de datos del consulado y además firmar el libro de visitantes.

Even though my brother and I had a scheduled time for our appointment. This was not fulfilled. There was a family of about 9 members who were processing their nationality and when we arrived they had not completed their process. So we had to wait a few hours in there to be seen.

Nos atendió la propia embajadora de Croacia en Brasil. Una persona bastante amable. Ella nos comunicaba la información en 3 idiomas, en inglés, portugués y español, porque poco sabía de español y nosotros no sabemos el croata. Sin embargo, todo salió bien y nos entendimos a la perfección. El trámite transcurrió de maravilla y nos pareció agradable la diplomática.
We were attended by Croatia's own ambassador in Brazil. Quite a friendly person. She communicated the information to us in 3 languages, in English, Portuguese and Spanish, because she knew little of Spanish and we do not know Croatian. However, everything went well and we understood each other perfectly. The procedure went wonderfully and we found the diplomat to be pleasant.
Siento que le caímos tan bien a la señora que nos dio regalos, a mi hermano le dio una corbata porque en Croacia se creó la corbata y a mi me dio una pañueleta o marama en croata. La verdad fue bastante lindo de su parte. Ahora solo nos queda esperar a que procesen el trámite para finalmente solicitar nuestro pasaporte europeo. Me encantó haberme rodeado de personas con las mismas raíces de mi abuelo y conocer un poco más de su cultura y una de las razones de porque las nuevas generaciones de Croatas no hablan su idioma.
I feel that the lady who gave us gifts liked us so much, she gave my brother a tie because the tie was created in Croatia and she gave me a scarf or marama in Croatian. It was actually quite nice of her. Now we just have to wait for them to process the procedure to finally apply for our European passport. I loved having surrounded myself with people with the same roots as my grandfather and knowing a little more about his culture and one of the reasons why the new generations of Croats do not speak his language.
