My partner and I had been planning a trip for the longest period and we finally decided to go for it. Our first course of action was taking an absence of leave from our jobs and after a few days of research, we decided that we were going to Dubai, we had always wanted to visit and this was the perfect opportunity to.
We decided to start the process of the trip and while doing this, we were lucky enough to stumble upon a contest that promised to take care of our flight tickets, visa processing, and hotel cost if we won, and after a lot of panicking, my partner was able to whip up an amazing design for the contest, and his design was picked as part of the top three that were chosen, and what a relief it was since winning meant we didn’t have to bother ourselves about certain costs.
We got into Dubai quite late but I had a lot of plans for the next day so we decided to get some rest so we could have enough energy to use for all we wanted to do.
We woke up the next day and decided to get breakfast at maxzi the good food shop at al quoz but before doing that we had to change our 100 dollars to AED which was the currency used in Dubai. We had already agreed that we would have 100 dollars as a spending cap for each day because we didn’t plan on being wasteful.
After changing our 100 dollars we were left with 367.32 AED, we decided to walk to maxzi, and getting there we decided to order a delicious flat white and a breakfast sandwich for 18AED each which amounted to 36AED and after breakfast, we took a cab to the Jumeira Beach Pavillion which cost about 3AED. We spent a few hours walking around the beach and discussing what was next for our relationship and before we realized it, it was time for lunch.
There were a lot of restaurants around the beach so we decided to walk to a restaurant called the Chinese pavilion and we ordered a half size of the stir-fried honey chicken and brown rice which amounted to 76AED for the two of us.
After lunch, we decided to go to the museum of illusions because it had been recommended to us by some people who we met and we took a cab which cost 4AED. Tickets at this museum cost about 22.45AED per person and the total cost was 44.9AED and after spending a few hours at the museum we agreed to go back to our hotel to rest before our evening plans and the cab to our hotel cost 5AED.
At 6 pm we got dressed and decided to get dinner before we could go to where we had planned next and we got a cab for 4AED to take us to a restaurant called little Bali. Getting there we asked the server to recommend us a meal and she recommended Ayam bakar bumbu rujak which was about 32AED per plate and the total was 64AED.
After dinner we got a cab to take us to our last spot for the night which was the Dubai frame and the cab cost about 5AED. We had already booked tickets online for a 105AED for the two of us so we didn’t have to stress when we got there.
We spent the night watching the sunset and taking pictures with the frame and it was truly beautiful. At the end of the night, we got a cab back to our hotel for 7AED, and we had some change left so we decided to get some ice cream for 18.37 AED and since my partner doesn’t have a sweet tooth, we just shared a serving.
We ended the night with about 0.05AED and we were happy because we hadn't only had a truly beautiful day in Dubai but we were also making big decisions as a couple.
I guess this is a good time to say that this was just an imaginary trip for a challenge by
