The Days That Changed Me: My Work Immersion Story (Day 3-6)
Good day, my dearest Hive friends! I would like to share with you the rest of my immersion journey (Day 3-6). If you haven't read the first two parts yet, please read them first before continuing with this one.
Day 3
On the third day, we started learning more about electrical topics and had a short quiz about the history of CEBECO II and some electrical stuffs. We were asked to draw a one-way switch diagram, and although we didn't know how to make it at first, we searched for references and asked help from our EIM classmate.
In the afternoon, we discussed basic electricity, which felt like a physics class. After the discussion, we took another test that felt like a board exam. I actually thought that the exam was a prank, huhu. Thankfully, I passed even though it was challenging.
CLASS SUSPENDED
The supposed Day 4 and Day 5 of our immersion didn't continue because there was a typhoon. On Day 4, we were supposed to visit CEBECO, but one school wasn’t allowed to attend because their principal said it wasn’t safe due to the weather. So in the end, all of us were told to just go home.
At that time, it honestly didn't even feel like there was a typhoon, it was actually really hot. Because of that, my friends and I decided to go out instead. We went to Bogo Plaza and ate at Mang Inasal.
The funny part is, since most of our money was already spent at Mang Inasal, we decided to save money afterward. So we looked for a free ride. My friends even told me a “tip”—just give a thumbs-upp to passing vehicles, and if someone stops, it means they’re willing to let you ride for free.
Day 4
On Day 4, we began actual wiring activities, which made the experience more exciting. One of our instructors taught us how to create single pole and three-way diagrams and apply them to real wiring.
I was paired with Shray, and we worked together to connect the wires properly. I felt nervous because I was scared of getting electrocuted and worried that we might not light the bulb. Fortunately, we successfully lit the bulb, and I felt proudd of our teamwork.
Day 5
Day 5 was more relaxed because only a few students attended due to heavy rain. Sir Rowell was busy, but he still took time to teach us whenever he was available.
He asked us to draw diagrams individually to test our understanding. I was able to draw mine without looking at references. After finishing, I asked my friends to check if my workk was correct.
Day 6
Day 6 was our final exam day, and the testt focused on electrical diagrams. We were unsure if our answers were correct, but we did our best. After the exam, we relaxed while there was a meeting in the venue hall.
In the afternoon, we continued our wiring activity with our partners. It was also Sir Rowell's last day teaching us, which made the day a little memorable.
THANK YOU FOR READING!
