Weekend Getaway to Famagusta - close to the Ghost Town
As we have a property website and dealing with buyers for Cyprus properties, Katia and I were given a villa for the weekend from a local developer in Famagusta.
We decided to go for one night and drove to Famagusta from Limassol.
After 1.5 hours we got to the villa which was great. It had 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, a private pool and a garden area.
Wonder what's in the tents outside the window
Catching a tan and checking messages
We were also surprised to find that at the back of the villa about 50m was a fence that was the border to the Turkish side. There was a Tower with two Turkish soldiers and they had a small house/bunker.
Little bit too close for my liking
A lot of controversy in the Cyprus newspapers about the opening of part of the Varosha beach on the occupied side. You can read about it here if you wish.

Only open to Turkish citizens. Ghost town in the background (46 years later)
For my next posts, I will show the 2 meals we had eating out at 2 restaurants and also the 2 beaches we visited whilst here
