The M-2 motorway was built in 1997 Connecting Islamabad to Lahore. This is the first motorway in Pakistan and also ranks the top five high-speed highways in the world. This motorway is 375 km long and is located in Punjab. Many beautiful places are located on this motorway like Kallar kahar, A very famous hill station of Punjab. This whole area is called salt range as the world's 2nd largest salt mine, Khewra is also in this area.
Other famous destinations adjacent to M2 Motorway are Katas Raj Temple, Kallar Kahar Lake, Uchalli Lake, Kabbeki Lake, Dharab Lake, and also historic city of Bhera. If the weather is pleasant then you can enjoy the scenic beauty of this area.
On this motorway, all kinds of landscapes like the hilly area, plain area, river, lakes, and green areas can be seen. In rain, this salt range also has some landslide so drive carefully. This motorway has reduced the travel distance from Islamabad to Lahore from 8 hours to 3 hours. They have also developed world-class rest areas and one of the best rest area is Bhera, where every world-class food brand is showcased.
