Iqbal Manzil is the birthplace of Dr. Muhammad Allama Iqbal (1877-1938). He was a poet and philosopher. He is the national poet of Pakistan. He gave the idea of Pakistan. Iqbal Manzil is located in an old city area of Sialkot. During my visit to Sialkot, I specially visited this place. In this building, you can see many different things used by Allama Iqbal. There are many family and political pictures of Allama Iqbal.
Now, this building is looked after by the Archaeology Department but they are not doing satisfactory work. The building's condition is deteriorated and needs special care. At Iqbal Manzil, a library has been maintained having more than 4000 books, in which 2000 books are on Iqbaliyat. Most of the books are donated by visitors.
Many tourists visit this building. They also take photographs and preserve some memories of this building. Some staff has been appointed to look after the building. Inside the building, photography is not allowed. Every Pakistani must visit this place and Punjab Government has also announced to establish an advanced research center in this building.
