During my visit to Malam Jabba, I also visited Mardan city. This city is located in a historic area where ancient civilizations lived like Gandhara civilization. The famous Seated Buddha (300 to 500 CE) was found in Mardan and is now on display at Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. In the center of Mardan city is a British era building which was built-in 1892 in memory of soldiers who sacrificed lives in defense of queen residency in Kabul, Afghanistan.
This area is a very beautiful and mostly hilly area. Very beautiful scenery to enjoy while driving uphill and some tunnels also come to reach Mardan. As the road is a single row so drive carefully and many roadside shops also sell fruit. This area is very fertile and many types of fruit grow there. Mardan is surrounded by some very famous archeology sites and hill stations.
Famous archeology site Takht-i-Bahi is located near Mardan, Jamal Garhi, and Shahbaz Garhi, etc. Around Mardan, you find Malam Jabba hill station, Sawat, Saidu sharif, etc. On these hill stations, I saw many big lavish houses having all luxuries like swimming pools and even helipads. So Pakistan's top guns or most rich people own these hill houses.
