The orange-headed thrush is a beautiful and colorful bird in the thrush family. They are mostly found in well wooden areas of forests. They are very common in Subcontinent. Like other thrushes, they also travel on the ground hopping and finding insects and earthworms. I mostly see this bird in the foothill area of Margalla Hills, Islamabad. It is very hard to photograph them as they are traveling into thick bushes.
I was fully camouflaged to photograph this bird. Firstly, I analyzed the path they used and the common sighting area of this bird. After a few days of work, I marked some places to sit and waited for this bird. It was my good luck that I found it and took some photographs.
One day I was birding deep inside Margalla Hills, a place where usually birds come to take bath and drink water, I saw this bird. It came to take a bath. As this bird could not feel my presence so I was lucky to get some good shot.
This is a very secretive bird and only a few times I have succeeded to take the photograph of this bird. On these times this bird was in shade or in dark areas so could not able to get some sharp shot. But I am not worried about it as I consider my self a Bird Watcher, not a bird photographer. So seeing this bird and spend time with is this a great achievement for me.
