Like most people and especially since the pandemic, we've come to rely on our phones a lot. Like a third arm and I can even go as far as saying, it's our right hand if we want to stick with being humans with two arms :), I have a list of apps that I regularly check and I will list them out in a bit as well as explain why I use those apps. I will do so in no particular order so do not take the listing to mean that it is in order of importance.
- Ecency
The Ecency App has become a very frequent sufferer of my on screen life because I've become very active especially on my alt account which I created for art . A day without checking ecency for me now is...well I can't remember what life used to feel like. But I've gotten so hooked on posting my content, reading and curating other contents and sharing with my friends as a sort of ambassador for hive. If you're on hive, there is no point in explaining why this app is crucial, what with the point system and ease of use.
2 . My Bible App.
I've become quite consistent with reading my Bible to gain insight for my day and life by extension. The review of the year on the app show that I have spent about 299 days so far on it. So I've definitely had a lot to meditate in this time. I don't read it to maintain my streaks and I'm not focused on stats, but it's motivating to have some metric to go by.
3 . Instagram
I'm actually surprised at how much I've become an Instagram poster and this is all due to my art. For each piece I post on ecency, I have the equivalent number on Instagram. I used to erroneously think that Instagram was for the glam and the fake life because of the way people would talk about it. Yes, it might be that, but it's more. It's the quickest and most fulfilling way to connect with other visual artists and creatives without the fluff and the unnecessary long posts you'd have on Facebook or a blog. Every medium has its merits and for art showcasing, Instagram is the IT place.
4 .Twitter
I must confess my Twitter activities have become quite minimal compared to two years ago where I felt the need to tweet every itching thought that came to mind. I find that on most days I can only manage one tweet and move on to viewing trending things. I'm mostly interested in activities happening in Nigeria and trust me, there is always something happening. There is always a scandal although they seem to take the same format and themes. The players are just different each time which kind of adds variety to it.
5 . Glovo
I use this app a lot especially since I moved to Vinnitsa in Feb. My old city did not have this service and I've become so spoilt now I can't imagine living in any place that does not allow me to order groceries, food, meds or miscellaneous items from the comfort of my home. Also, especially in this winter months with cold air that's proven over the years to exacerbate bronchial asthma, it has helped me to stay indoors so much and prevented the cough that made my life unbearable in previous years. I just have to learn to order most of the things I need at once to reduce delivery costs for each new purchase.
6 . Viber
Most people don't know how big Viber is in the former Soviet countries. In Nigeria, WhatsApp is pretty much the staple app for communicating with friends, but here it's the opposite. I have a best friend who prefers to use Viber even though we both have WhatsApp and since this is my best friend, you bet I end up spending a lot of time talking there. Also, my family members all use Viber and so it's convenient for me.
7 . Pinterest
If you'd asked me a few years back if I would ever become a user of Pinterest like I am now, I'd have wondered what I'd need it for, but as an artist, I need inspiration and this is a hub of the inspired and the inspiring. I like to look at models to get an idea and reference for my work. It's proved itself so useful and I can pin or save so many things to different folders.
8 . PRIVAT24 app
This is my bank app so of course it makes the list. I need to transfer money regularly for my purchases on Glovo so I log in several times in a week to make the transfers. It's got a great in-app customer service for whenever you need help. And sometimes they speak in English which is a plus.
That's it from me for now. What are your favorite apps and why do you use them so often?
