I've been painting with different flat brushes and just experimenting to try out new styles and finally settled on drawing with visible lines to get a nlre cartoony look. I don't exactly know where I'm headed and that's what these exploratory drawings are doing for me. It's pushing me to not settle on one thing although sometimes I must confess it gets confusing and feels overwhelming, because like I said sometime ago, there are just so many options with digital art and you can manipulate one sketch in so many ways if you have all the time in the world.
Here's the final result of my study
Ibis paint has a nice oil brush for painting hair which I used. I didn't document the step by step process because I didn't think I'd share this one.
I like my choice of colors. They're desaturated, so not shouty at all. They feel harmonious and my model looks happy with quiet calm, a feeling I don't seem to be experiencing right now due to burn out. I plan to do a few more quick sketches and paintings like this one just to have fun. I'm a bit tired of worrying about a good finish. I just want to do quick things and a lot of them to see what stands out so I could perhaps incorporate into something more serious that I'll be doing later.
I also think I'll try to leave my background white and blank to make my images stand out more and also to not spend too much time wondering what to actually do.
Before I go, here's another quick fun thing I did.
I don't know what to call this one. Looks like a happy drop of water to me. I like the blue and the splashes which I got from painting with one of the sparkly brushes. I can't remember which now. Anyways it was just accidental and I think it looks cool on its own.
That's it from me for now. Cheers.
