Hello Everyone in the Community .
No one is exempt from suffering from the Carpal Tunnel syndrome, although there are people with a greater propensity to suffer it: among them, women between 30 and 60 years old, individuals with narrow wrists, who perform repetitive movements with their hands and women pregnant.
If you are a very active blogger on the computer, you are also prone to carpal tunnel injuries. This truth is a problem that can limit us in our day to day.
The good news is that it can be eradicated if you follow the treatment prescribed by a health specialist.
It is important to know in detail what it is, causes, symptoms and how to get rid of discomfort.
Perhaps many are wondering:
What is carpal tunnel syndrome?
I am not a doctor, but my own experience with some diseases has led me to do a lot of research on health.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that occurs when the median nerve in the wrist is under too much pressure. Thanks to this nerve, we enjoy an adequate level of sensitivity in the hand and can perform specific movements.
Consequently, when the median nerve is pressed, we may experience symptoms such as numbness of the hand, a tingling sensation, muscle weakness, or pain in the fingers or the entire hand.
In addition, carpal tunnel syndrome can present other severe or moderate symptoms:
Difficulty grasping objects, such as bags or scissors.
Coordination problems and fine motor skills in the fingers.
Pain that continues in the elbow area.
In more severe cases, atrophy of the muscle under the thumb may be experienced.
If you think you may have carpal tunnel syndrome, it is best to do the appropriate tests for your diagnosis.
Do you have good health insurance? In this case, the specialist will carry out a series of specific tests to detect the syndrome and provide the most appropriate treatment.
Causes of carpal tunnel syndrome
We will better understand why carpal tunnel syndrome occurs if we know the characteristics of the area where it originates.
For being a kind of narrow tube through which the middle nerve that connects the arm with the hand passes. Therefore, it is not surprising that carpal tunnel syndrome arises from the causes that I will indicate below:
Inflammation of the tissues adjacent to the middle nerve.
Genetics: having an especially small carpal tunnel.
Repetitive movements of the hand and wrist, such as when using vibrating tools.
Fractures of bones in the wrist.
Arthritis in the same area.
Cyst or tumor that grows next to the carpal tunnel.
Fluid retention due to pregnancy or menopause.
Amyloidosis, a disease that causes unusual protein deposits.
Obesity.
Alcoholism.
There are activities that may be responsible for pain and swelling of the tendons in the wrist, causing the carpal tunnel to narrow. However, the truth is that there are no studies that directly link carpal tunnel syndrome with these activities. We mean writing with the computer, using the mouse, playing musical instruments, or playing sports.
How to relieve pain from carpal tunnel syndrome?
The pain in the carpal tunnel area can become so disabling that it makes it impossible to perform some daily tasks.
How to remove it?
As we anticipate, the best thing to do is go to a good specialist who will make an accurate diagnosis and tell you what treatment to follow.
I once suffered a lot from the carpal tunnel and some of the exercises that physiotherapy prescribed for me are the following images:
