As I was going through my photos, I came across my last travel to Harbin, China, which was around December last year. Harbin is famous for its snow and ice, and it truly felt like a magical place. Everywhere I looked, there was snow that made everything calm, white, and beautiful. I really miss the snow, and let me tell you what happened during my travel there.
The weather there was cold, but it was the kind of cold that felt exciting because you know there are many fun things to do under the snow. I could already see some activities set up for visitors, and I was excited to try them. Harbin is well known for its winter fun, and being there made me realize why so many people visit this city during the snowy season.
One of the first places I saw was the Harbin BBQ Hall. This place caught my attention because, even in the cold, people were enjoying hot food inside. The smell of grilled meat filled the air, and it made me feel hungry. Eating barbecue in such a cold place feels different it warms you up from the inside. I didn’t stay too long there, but just seeing the BBQ Hall made me smile because it shows how people in Harbin enjoy food even in the middle of winter.
I also came across a giant snow sculpture of Olaf, the snowman from the movie Frozen (not exactly same but it reminds me of olaf lol). It was so big and looked very cute! Olaf is a character that many people love, and seeing him built out of snow made me happy. A lot of people were taking pictures with him, and of course, I also joined in and took some photos. It’s not every day that you see a snow Olaf that’s taller than you.
The best part of the trip was trying some activities in the snow. There were places where you could play games, slide, or just enjoy the snowy surroundings.
Playing in the snow made me feel like a child again. I laughed, I ran around, and I enjoyed every moment. Sometimes my hands felt frozen, but that didn’t matter because I was having so much fun. Snow has a way of making people smile, no matter how cold it gets.
Then when I started to feel hungry, so I stopped to eat some snacks. There were stalls selling simple foods that were warm and tasty. Having a small snack in the middle of the snow made me feel cozy. It gave me the energy to continue walking around and exploring.
As the day went on and it got closer to evening, I noticed how the place slowly started to change. The snow was still there, but the light from the sun began to fade. I
I could see the castle in the distance, and during sunset, it looked very beautiful. The soft orange and pink colors of the sky made the castle look magical, almost like something from a fairytale.
When night finally came, the lights around the castle and the other buildings started to shine brightly. The night lights made everything look even more amazing. The snow reflected the colors of the lights, and it felt like I was standing in a winter wonderland. I could not stop staring because the view was just too pretty. I took a lot of pictures to remember that moment.
Harbin at night felt alive and full of joy. People were still walking around, taking photos, and enjoying the activities. Even though it was cold, everyone looked happy. I think that’s one of the special things about Harbin it brings people together to enjoy the beauty of winter.
Then at night I felt tired but very happy. Spending my weekend in Harbin was worth it. From the BBQ Hall to the giant Olaf, from the fun snow activities to the beautiful lights at night, everything felt special. It was a mix of fun, food, and amazing views.
That trip reminded me how wonderful it is to explore new places. Harbin showed me the beauty of snow, not just as cold weather, but as something that makes life more colorful and joyful. I left with a big smile, full of memories that I will always treasure.
That was how I spent my last December in Harbin, China. It was simple, but also magical. I can’t wait to visit again someday and enjoy more of what Harbin has to offer. Hope I could go there again maybe on christmas soon.
luv, cath ✨
