Hello my loving Hivers,
Hello my dear friends, how are you? I hope you enjoy this wonderful weekend with your family. The last few days I decided to take a break from official life because it was an important beautiful day for my little daughter's education. According to our tradition, a small child's reading day is a very important day.
Continuing to lead a busy life, I missed many things in my personal life, carefully selecting important moments and doing the necessary things. Special rituals were to be performed on the day of the reading. Timeliness, especially in religious matters, was an essential factor in the descendants of the ancients. Accordingly, time management was a very important task.
We bought some books in Sinhala, English as well as numbers from a bookstore for our little daughter to read. Some of these books were published to appeal to young children in particular. We both paid more attention to their finish. Because we wanted to make our child's reading more successful.
According to our tradition, for a reading ceremony, a variety of fruits, such as pineapple, banana, mango, orange, and dill, need to be placed in a sacrificial offering. You can see how we cut some fruit and put it in a sacrificial bowl.
It is a tradition from ancient society that it is essential to seek the blessings of the gods Saraswathi and Gana especially for the reading ceremony of a small child. We as the present generation do not need to change that, because the tradition of a country is accepted as an essential factor in displaying the identity of that country. In addition to the statues of Goddess Saraswathi and God Gana, we had a well-designed image of the Buddha.
For this special offering, a number of sweets such as kawum, kokis, mung karali and cake were placed in an offering bowl and placed for the Buddha, Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Gana. It has long been believed that the presence of several types of sweets makes the offering a success. We preserved the traditions of the past in the same way.
Also, six flowers of six colors were placed in vases and offered to the Buddha and the gods. This special occasion brought beauty in different colors. My little daughter in particular was pleased to see this color combination. So she did not even cry.
After my wife lit the coconut oil lamps, the little boy began to touch them. It is our traditional custom.
Everything is ready for our daughter to read.
Time was 7.50am. Before reading the scriptures to the child according to the religion, we all used to recite stanzas and worship the Buddha. After that he recited hymns to Goddess Saraswathi and Goddess Gana and obtained their blessings. The wife's mother told us that this was a must before reading the text.
Then the wife picked up the Sinhala dictionary she had bought for reading and began to read aloud the letters that her little daughter could hear. My daughter also slowly began to read those letters.
After a while my daughter started reading letters very clearly. Some young children are not able to read at the right time. I also have some experience with that. Therefore, this occasion can be described as a happy occasion for all of us.
Then the daughter began to read the letters of the English dictionary. Even before that the little girl had some knowledge to read English letters so she could read English letters aloud without any difficulty.
From the photos above you can clearly see how the daughter draws different designs and shapes using the pencils she brought to draw and paint. It's really interesting to see how she tries to gain some knowledge. It is a wonderful sight to see little children following their parents and learning everything.
In a very short time we had the opportunity to reserve a traditional and glorious little ceremony for our child. We are very happy about this. Our child faced this opportunity without knowing anything and successfully. It certainly helped her to succeed in her future academic career. Thank you all for reading the content. Have a wonderful week.
