Mi película favorita es, sin duda alguna, El hombre bicentenario; este es un film basado en la novela del escritor de ciencia ficción Isaac Asimov, está protagonizada por Sam Neill, Embeth Davidtz y Robin Williams quien hace el papel del robot.
El tema de la película es la búsqueda en lograr ser humano de un robot llamado Andrew, es algo parecido a Pinocho pero en un sentido más explícito de la trama ya que en cada escena se manifiesta el interés de Andrew por poder tener sentimientos humanos como hambre, dolor, tristeza, alegría y sobre todo amor. Desde niña Pinocho es uno de mis cuentos favoritos y la película Hombre Bicentenario es en mi opinión una versión moderna de este cuento.
My favorite movie is, without a doubt, The Bicentennial Man; This is a film based on the novel by science fiction writer Isaac Asimov, it stars Sam Neill, Embeth Davidtz and Robin Williams who plays the robot.
The theme of the film is the search for a robot named Andrew to become human, it is something similar to Pinocchio but in a more explicit sense of the plot since in each scene Andrew's interest in being able to have human feelings such as hunger is manifested , pain, sadness, joy and above all love. Since I was a child, Pinocchio has been one of my favorite stories, and the movie Hombre Bicentenario is in my opinion a modern version of this story.
Andrew es un robot inmortal y esto lo lleva a experimentar poco a poco una serie de experiencias desagradables como la muerte de su creador y la hija de éste, Amanda a quien llamaba Pequeña señorita. Andrew se somete a una serie de cambios en su organismo mecánico, logra hacerlo debido a la avanzada tecnología de su tiempo, pero nunca está conforme, él quiere ser un ser humano completo, quiere sentir y ser capaz incluso de tener sexo como cualquier hombre.
El robot logra su cometido con la ayuda de un científico experimental llamado Rupert Burns, luego Andrew se encuentra con Portia quien es la nieta de querida Pequeña señorita, ambos poco a poco se enamoran, ellos tienen una larga relación amorosa pero Portia enferma y Andrew se da cuenta que morirá, entonces el decide morir con ella a pesar de que él es inmortal, esto sucede en momentos en que él mantiene una lucha frente a las autoridades legales del mundo para que lo declaren formalmente un ser humano.
Andrew is an immortal robot and this leads him to gradually experience a series of unpleasant experiences such as the death of his creator and his daughter, Amanda, whom he called Little Miss. Andrew undergoes a series of changes in his mechanical organism, he manages to do it due to the advanced technology of his time, but he is never satisfied, he wants to be a complete human being, he wants to feel and even be able to have sex like any man.
The robot achieves its mission with the help of an experimental scientist named Rupert Burns, then Andrew meets Portia who is the granddaughter of dear Little Miss, both little by little fall in love, they have a long love relationship but Portia falls ill and Andrew falls realizes that he will die, so he decides to die with her despite the fact that he is immortal, this happens at a time when he maintains a fight against the legal authorities of the world to formally declare him a human being.
Al final Andrew muere junto con su amada Portia sin importarle para nada que él podía seguir viviendo, para mí esta es la parte me más me gustó de esta hermosa película que recomiendo ampliamente, es divertida, curiosa y emocionante, fue una película que me hizo reír y llorar.
In the end Andrew dies together with his beloved Portia without caring at all that he could continue living, for me this is the part I liked the most about this beautiful film that I highly recommend, it is fun, curious and exciting, it was a film that made me laugh and cry.
