I've been pulling that bowstring less frequently as of late. I've done some archery reports in the past and here's what comes to probably number 5 or number 6. Not a professional archer here. This is a hobby. And sessions happen when I have the time for them to happen. And the opportunity to be with a bow at a suitable location. All in all, lots of factors have to...stack.
This one session happened during a family vacation and it was a matter of sneaking between time with parents and children. It was in the mountains and I found a clear lawn with horses grazing far away enough so that none of them would get scared by my activities.
Well, I did use some of them as landmarks in the background. Visually, I mean. I did not plant any horses anywhere. No force was used but The Force...Which...well, let's say I might have done better using the aiming computer of an X-wing. Or not.
This time, I used my nonstandard bow which lacks accuracy but is still fun to practice technique. One can compensate in terms of accuracy once that one gets used to its tricks.
But what I wanted to try was its maximum range. Previously, I had discovered that I can get to 100 yards with a 22-pound bow.
With this one, I got to about 60 yards range.
I never hit the pizza box target at that range. My closest shot, probably one out of about thirty, fell less than one foot away from the target. I consider that one a success.
The holes you see on the pizza box below were made a from 20-yards distance (the one in the center) and 30-yards distance (those bottom-right thingies).
Well, for the time being, I consider 20 yards the maximum distance at which I can rely on myself using this bamboo bow. Yeah, it's made of bamboo. So what?
Also, the box was empty :(
Take care!
Yours,
Manol
