En el armario hay un animal
colorido y que bien escondido está,
llega una zarigüeya al lugar,
con una patilla partida por la mitad
y el del armario se asoma para observar.
La zarigüeya va por èl hasta el armario
y le ayuda a salir despacio,
le entrega la comida que ha llevado
y se va por un rato,
dejando al animal bien alimentado.
There’s an animal in the closet,
colorful and well hidden,
a possum comes along,
with a split sideburn,
and the one in the closet peeks out to watch.
The opossum leads him to the closet
and helps him out slowly,
hands him the food it brought
and leaves for a while,
leaving the animal well fed.
Cuando la zarigüeya regresa,
al animal desmayado encuentra,
se angustia y lo alza con cautela,
en su espalda se lo cuelga
y sale de la madriguera.
Llega hasta la ciudad
y comienza a gritar,
pide ayuda para el animal,
que desmayado está
y ahí podría su vida terminar.
When the opossum returns,
it finds the animal unconscious,
it panics and lifts it up carefully,
hoists it onto its back,
and leaves the burrow.
It makes its way to the city
and starts shouting,
asking for help for the animal,
which is unconscious
and could die right there.
Una hoja escucha el clamor
y se acerca para saber que pasó,
revisa el animal con precaución
y le susurra una canción
porque sabe que este no se desmayó.
El animal estaba dormido
y al hablarle al oído,
se levanta solito
y se va con la zarigüeya al escondrijo
dónde siempre han vivido.
A leaf hears the commotion
and creeps closer to see what happened,
carefully checks on the animal
and whispers a song to it
because it knows the animal hasn’t fainted.
The animal was asleep,
and when the leaf spoke softly in its ear,
it got up on its own
and followed the opossum to their hideout,
where they’ve always lived.
Que graciosa situación,
un animal se duerme sin control,
su amiga cree que se desmayó,
busca ayuda y lo que encontró,
es que no estaba desmayado como lo pensó.
