15/7/2020. The day I discovered one of the most magical places on earth. Imagine being on top of a mountain, all green in front of you. Forests, trees, clouds and flowers is all you see.
As for the sounds you hear, they mainly consist of birds chirping, the summer breeze and the distant sound of trees moving.
This place may sound like an unreachable heaven, but it is real. It is the Masia Serrat del Vent, a beautiful guest house located in north-east Catalonia, in the Ripollès county.
A true oasis.
I went there for a day to meet with friends, one of them , the owner of the house. We had lunch together and shared a wonderful day full of laughs and fun talks.
Also, as a huge lover of animals, I was my happiest there: Albert has two horses, two dogs and one cat; all of them beautiful and very docile. I am not joking when I say I spent the entire day around them. The inner child in me couldn’t be more excited.
Header 4As you can see, the views from the house are breathtaking. You see the neighboring village, Ribes de Freser, and mountains, leafy forests and clouds passing by.
The house has a lot of history and it has been built slowly and with local materials. Everything, from the floor to the ceiling to the dining table, is locally sourced and mostly built by Albert. Ask him about where the furniture in his house comes from, and you will be amazed at the detailed and loving work he’s done to turn Serrat del Vent into the oasis it is today.
I think that, in the coronavirus time, we have to support small businesses and travel sustainably. I myself am a fan of boutique hotels and rural houses, I feel like when you go to these places you truly get to experience the local life and culture of the zone you are visiting. You get to talk with the owners and the other guests, make friends and vacation in a slow, more relaxing way.
If you want to escape from the city life, this is the place to go.
