There is an old saying that knowledge will set us free and beyond the good vibe that this phrase has, I consider that it will rather make us prisoner.
It is true that knowing more about the nature of the world will make you a more grateful being, but combining this criterion with the misuse that humanity gives to creed, can make you a prisoner of the impotence that not everyone seeks good will and justice.
I am not talking about discrimination of races or cultures, I am referring to the imbalance between those who do good and those who do bad. Recognizing yourself as a wise and benevolent being creates bewilderment when you see in others something you would like to change and are unable to.
The world is polluted with garbage and bad ideas. When you are intelligent and at peace, you identify those who are not and also those who have more qualities than you.
Intelligence is inversely proportional to happiness
I remember an episode of The Simpsons where Lisa longs for a smarter father to accompany her to the library. Homer, whose stupidity is hilarious and who in spite of that is a good person and cheerful as anyone, goes to the doctor after receiving a hit. When he gets an x-ray, he finds out that he has a crayon stuck in his brain that got there after he stuck it up his nose when he was a kid.
When it is removed, Homer acquires a great intelligence. He begins to read books, to assemble magic cubes, discovers by mistake that God does not exist and little by little he begins to isolate himself from the world. Lisa shows him a table where it says that intelligence reduces happiness.
Faced with that reality, he decides to put the crayon back up his nose to return to his old life and so, with Moe's help, he succeeds.
Happiness is linked to knowledge. Learning some truths about the world and its people will make you miserable and handicapped from fighting against things that harm society. Despite this, beyond the banalities, I prefer to keep looking for happiness in everything and that this brings me closer to people with the same energy or vision of life.
See ya
God bless you all
