Movie, Hanna, was released in 2011, it made about $65 million in its first week and got second place in US Box Office.
Most of us still remember this movie, at least, the ones who have been a big fan of the movie.
It got a lot of applause from most of the critics for its story, action, performances, interesting & beautiful locations and, of course, music, it had a freshness in almost each of these categories.
Though, Hanna, the movie, answered almost all the questions raised in its story, many fans, like me, wanted a little more of HANNA.
A TV series of a well known and famous movie can make new pleasant memories for the fans, which is rare in most of the cases. On the other hand, there are more chances for it to destroy the overall image.
Hanna was a hit and succeeded in getting a huge fan-base, and when someone decides to make a TV Series on the story of such a big movie, chances of being negatively criticized are more than getting popularity in comparison to any of the newly started series which has no connection to any famous movie or TV show.
I dare to say, only the first episode of such series which are based on famous movies normally gets the advantage of the fans, who mostly watch to judge it, to see whether it is anywhere near the standard of the original one or not. A biased comparison keeps running in the back of their brains.
Another factor, which was a big factor of the movie, Hanna, was MYSTERY, and this was another disadvantage for the series because most of it was revealed in the movie.
I would like to say, though, Hanna Season 1 had very little extra than that of the movie, 8 episodes of the season do keep you engaged in them. It is definitely not the waste of the time and is a good entertainment. This could be because of the writers and creators of the movie, Seth Lochhead and David Farr, were a part of the writing and creativity team of the series as well. Some new mysteries were also created from within the original story.
Season 1 covers everything exactly as that was in the movie, with a couple of major changes, though, which were, I think, necessary in order to move the story into the next phase, or it would be correct to say, to develop the base for the second season.
If we summarize the first season.
Hanna's mother and Erik stole infant Hanna from the medical facility running under Utrax. Hanna's mother was killed in the accident during this attempt. Erik succeeded in rescuing infant Hanna, brought up and trained Hanna while living off the grid. Hanna was trained to speak several languages, learnt different martial arts and how survive in the wilderness. She got curious about herself and her life as the time passed, she escaped from the wilderness in search of answers. In this search, Hanna found out that Erik is not her biological father and that there are other girls like her somewhere in a camp and are imprisoned there.
But all these events and the additional ones, which were not part of the original movie, were accompanied a lot of excitement, drama, thrill and best performances.
Action sequences might not be that frequent as those were in the movie, this could be because of the difference in the length of the movie and the series, more story more events, but they are not less thrilling and no way audience wouldn't have enjoyed them.
