Hello Hive
We have seen and come to the end of the journey with our fluted pumpkin.
This has lasted for up to nine months in total and all we have now is the maturing seeds and just a single fresh stem that carries it.
Throughout the period of nine months we have harvested green leaves and trimmed off unnecessary stems.
Maturation of the seeds can continue and even pull this for up to a year, even though that depends on the specie of fluted pumpkin.
At maturity stage like this, the shoot and leaves often dries off leaving the tuber (roots).
Since we have got different species of fluted pumpkin, some have shown perennial traits such that after the harvest of the first fruits and the leaves dries off like this, everything could sprout again and begin a new growth.
What we have on the plant now is a single healthy stem carrying the two growing fruits while the other parts and leaves are completely dried.
Hopefully this will revive back to life again after we make our harvest of the fruits but even if it doesn't, we have fresh seeds that can be used for another years propagation.
Thank you for coming with me on the journey of planting nurturing and growing fluted pumpkin..
