One of the things that have always fascinated me about the United States has been an area that I got to know through the cartoons I used to watch when I was a child. The yogi bear and his faithful companion bubu, taught us young Latin Americans not only the way of life of an animal that we do not know in our lands as is the bear, but also showed us the benefits and wonders of a region known as Yellowstone National Park, was the first time I heard of this park. Later in my adult student life at the Universidad De Oriente I had contact with this interesting and fascinating North American region again, when in microbiology we learned about the yellow green bacteria. Bacteria that at that time were the only ones capable of surviving in the high temperatures of the waters that emanate from the earth in this ancient region. That is why I had a great satisfaction, joy to know that a Peña, my brother had the opportunity to visit Yellowstone National Park.
For those who do not know Yellowstone, is the first natural reserve which was given the character of National Park in the world, that happened back in 1886. Creating a new modality for the protection and care of the fauna and flora unique in regions of the world. Today it is known that Yellowstone is a powerful dormant volcano, it is one of the areas known as the great volcanic caldera. In this park not only live the Yogi and Bubu bears and hundreds of other bears, but also different species of animals, some of which are under special care to prevent their extinction. Another important and fascinating feature of this park is the presence of geysers and a large complex hydrothermal system. This is nothing more than powerful emissions of hot water coming out of the center of the earth and spreading into the atmosphere contributing to enrich our environment with this warm or hot water, constantly emitted from these geysers. There is a famous one, known as the clock which with a millimeter precision and almost equal to a Swiss watch emits every certain period of time its powerful jet of water towards the sky, so much so that it has been compared its millimeter precision with the atomic clock and the difference is very small between the time given by both measurements.
When I found out that my brother Marco Antonio Peña Quintero, who lives for geopolitical reasons in the United States, was going to visit this important region, I was overwhelmed with joy and great emotion to know that someone from my family was visiting such a historic region. It is something indescribable but it filled me with emotion to explain to my children that their uncle was visiting a park that I had known through television cartoons, obviously my children do not know Yogi and his struggle with the guard to get the baskets and baskets of food.
Something good that Venezuelan migration has produced, is that those of us who are here in the country have been able to get to know through the wonderful technology of photos and WhatsApp sites that otherwise we would never have the opportunity to visit. Listening to Marco Antonio's descriptions of the geyser, the noise produced by the emission of water from the center of the earth, almost feeling the heat of that thermal water is fascinating. His narrative about the Park, about the geography, about how the visitors are attended and above all about the functions of the park rangers that led me to imagine the guard Smith.
It has been fascinating and exciting at the same time that mixture that occurs in Venezuelans when we miss a loved one by the distance and at the same time we rejoice for their achievements, for the things and places they are knowing and for those wonderful experiences they are getting to be in a distant land.

De las cosas que siempre me han fascinado de los Estados Unidos ha sido una zona que conocí a través de las comiquitas que veía en mi época de niño. El oso yogui y su fiel compañero bubu ,nos enseñaban a los jóvenes latinoamericanos no solamente el modo de vida de un animal y que desconocemos en nuestras tierras como es el oso, si también nos mostraban las bondades y maravillas de una región conocida como el parque Nacional de Yellowstone, fue la primera vez que escuche de este parque. Luego posteriormente en mi vida adulta estudiantil en la Universidad De Oriente volví a tener contacto con esta interesante y fascinante región norteamericana, cuando en microbiología conocimos las bacterias verde amarillas. Unas bacterias que en ese momento eran las únicas capaces de sobrevivir en las altas temperaturas de las aguas que emanan de la tierra en esta antigua región. Por eso tuve una gran satisfacción, alegría al saber que un Peña, mi hermano tuvo la oportunidad de visitar el Parque Nacional de Yellowstone.
Para los que no saben Yellowstone, es la primera reserva natural a la cual se le dio el carácter de Parque Nacional en el mundo, eso ocurrió por allá por el 1886. Creando una nueva modalidad para la protección y cuidado de la fauna y flora única en regiones del mundo. Hoy en día se sabe de que Yellowstone es un poderoso volcán dormido, es una de las zonas conocida como la gran caldera volcánica. En este parque no solamente vive el oso yogui y bubu y otros cientos de osos sino que también viven diferentes especies de animales, algunos de ellos están sometidos o bajo régimen de cuidados especiales para evitar su extinción. Otra de las características importantes y fascinantes de este parque es la presencia de géiseres y un gran complejo sistema hidrotermal. Esto no es más que poderosas emisiones de agua caliente que salen del centro de la tierra y que se esparcen en la atmósfera contribuyendo a enriquecer nuestro medio ambiente con esta agua cálida o caliente, emiten constantemente de estos geiseres. Hay uno famoso, conocido como el reloj el cual con una precisión milimétrica y casi igual a un reloj suizo emite cada cierto periodo de tiempo su potente chorro de agua hacia el cielo, tanto es así que ha sido comparado su precisión milimétrica con el reloj atómico y la diferencia es muy pequeña entre el tiempo que dan ambas mediciones.
Cuando supe que mi hermano Marco Antonio Peña Quintero quien vive, por razones geopolíticas en Estados Unidos, iba a visitar esta importante región me embargó una gran alegría y una gran emoción saber que alguien de mi familia estaba visitando tan histórica región. Es algo indescriptible pero más me llenó de emoción explicarle a mis hijos que su tío estaba visitando un parque que yo había conocido a través de las comiquitas de la televisión, obviamente mis hijos no conocen a yogui ni su lucha con el guardia para conseguir las cestas y canastas de alimentos.
Algo bueno que ha producido la migración venezolana, es que los que estamos aquí en el país hemos podido conocer a través de la maravillosa tecnología de las fotos y del WhatsApp sitios que de otra manera jamás podríamos tener la oportunidad de visitar. Escuchar las descripciones de marco Antonio sobre el geiser, el ruido que produce la emisión de agua desde el centro de la tierra, casi sentir el calor de esa agua termal es fascinante. Su narrativa sobre el Parque, sobre la geografía, de cómo es atendido los visitantes y sobre todo de las funciones de los guarda parques que me llevaron a imaginarme al guardia Smith.
Ha sido fascinante y emocionante a la vez esa mezcla que se produce en los venezolanos cuando extrañamos a un ser querido por la distancia y al mismo tiempo nos alegramos por sus logros, por las cosas y sitios que están conociendo y por esas maravillosas experiencias que están obteniendo al estar en una en tierras lejanas.
Quisiera que este post sirva para que todos aquellos que puedan visitar este parque si están en los Estados Unidos o si están en nuestro amado país dedique un minuto a indagar y a leer en la internet sobre las maravillosas bondades y características del Parque Nacional Yellowstone ya que van a aprender mucho sobre la evolución de la tierra, sobre los bosques, sobre los osos y sobre las medidas de protección medioambiental que tanta falta hacen en el mundo en la actualidad.
