Dial del Ingeniero en Venezuela
Cada 28 de Octubre desde hace ciento sesenta y tres años se celebra en nuestro país un día dedicado a la noble profesión de ingeniero. En el año de 1861 el entonces presidente de la República de Venezuela Manuel Felipe Tovar crea el colegio de Ingenieros como un ente asesor del gobierno. Para ese entonces había en el país unas 66 personas debidamente reconocidas como ingenieros y 22 de ellos tuvieron la iniciativa de afiliarse a esta naciente organización.
En la actualidad, según cifras del propio Colegio de Ingenieros de Venezuela, somos más de 12000 profesionales que contribuimos con nuestro trabajo, con nuestra dedicación a construir un mejor país. Es importante destacar que en nuestro gremio también están afiliados los Arquitectos.
Un joven para graduarse de ingeniero requiere tener una gran cantidad de horas hombres dedicadas al estudio de las matemáticas, de cálculo, de la física, así como de las materias propias de la rama de la ingeniería que decidió estudiar. Las largas horas de trasnocho no se detienen al salir de la universidad, sino que por el contrario aumentan, así como aumenta la responsabilidad y el compromiso ético y moral de hacer las cosas bien.
En los próximos años, nuestra profesión debe retomar el sitial que le corresponde para llevar a nuestro país por la senda del progreso y bienestar. La gerencia y el conocimiento técnico deben ser la guía de la administración.

Day of the Engineer in Venezuela
Every October 28th for one hundred and sixty three years a day dedicated to the noble profession of engineer is celebrated in our country. In 1861 the then President of the Republic of Venezuela Manuel Felipe Tovar created the College of Engineers as an advisory body to the government. At that time there were 66 people in the country duly recognized as engineers and 22 of them had the initiative to join this nascent organization.
At present, according to figures from the College of Engineers of Venezuela, we are more than 12,000 professionals who contribute with our work, with our dedication to build a better country. It is important to point out that Architects are also affiliated to our guild.
In order to graduate as an engineer, a young man must dedicate a great amount of man hours to the study of mathematics, calculus, physics, as well as the subjects of the branch of engineering he has decided to study. The long hours of late nights do not stop when you leave the university, but on the contrary, they increase, as well as the responsibility and the ethical and moral commitment to do things well.
In the coming years, our profession must regain its rightful place to lead our country along the path of progress and well-being. Management and technical knowledge must be the guide of the administration.
