How high is high? How deep is deep? These are some of the eternal and unanswerable questions that boggle the mind. I would like to add to it one more if I might: When does a large shrub become a small tree? According to Google Lens, this flower is from a Blackhaw viburnum. Now the Blackhaw viburnum is said to be a large shrub. But to my eyes it looked every bit like a small tree as a little Dogwood does. Plus since I started to treat Tuesday tag about a hundred years ago, I am going to include it regardless of what Google says LOL.
Right now at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the hills and the valleys alike are awash in hues of pink. You see, the Redbuds have taken the place of the recently faded yet still ubiquitous Bradford pears.
Oftentimes the Redbuds have just blooms with nary a leaf at all. I like this shot even though it's rather dim. Even in the dying light of a fading evening, the green leaves accentuate the magenta blooms.
Weeping Willow Meets Cherry Tree
I think my favorite tree, of the day at least, has got to be the weeping cherry. The gracefulness of a weeping willow meets the delicate blooms of a cherry tree. What's not to love?
Sadly this is what I have been doing.
I am a bonafide tree lover. So I feel sad about being in the position to have to cut and kill so many trees. However I comfort my guilty conscience by reminding myself that the remaining trees will be able to thrive and reach their full potential without having to struggle in the crowded woodlot. Of course I knew what I was signing up for when I purchased the lot. Additionally I know that the hardwoods will provide a lot of heat once I get the house built and have the wood burning stove installed.
At least I can see water now!
