Leaving aside my visits to the imposing Portuguese castles, I made a 35km trip to the famous Cape Espichel, this plateau has one of the best views of the Atlantic Ocean and not only the view captured my attention, it was also the history that surrounds the place, I think come back because there is a trail called dinosaur footprints and we can photograph real dinosaur footprints! but for now I will show you a bit of the history and the landscape so enjoy my post!😮🌄

If we want to know this natural formation we would have to go to the south of Portugal, exactly in the district of Sesimbra, we only visited this area once and it was to visit the castle but there is still much to know and discover, after we are in Sesimbra we go to the southwest until reaching the Setubal peninsula, this area is well known for its beautiful beaches, the Espichel peninsula is known because it is an area with huge cliffs over 150 meters high, its rock formation has erosion from water and wind by that we see the stones with colored lines!😮🤔😏

Ok before you say... It's just a cliff!!! in reality espichel cape goes beyond that there are some historical sites of interest within the tourist site such as a very old church with a great history, also a beautiful lighthouse and as I mentioned earlier dinosaur footprints, you like adventures like me? then you can come prepared with your hiking equipment and make some "trilhos" skirting the cliff system until you reach the most extreme point of the Southwest Atlantic!😮😮

On one occasion I made some "trilhos" the word trilho is like path in Portuguese, since there is no translation in English... Go through the set of beaches that border the southern margin of Setubal and if we do the complete walk we reach this area, we would go through the beaches of Costa de Caparica, I think it is a virgin landscape little explored we can see hundreds of coastal birds perching on the cliffs, big waves!😮😮

SANTUARIO NOSSA SENHORA🚙🚩🌍🧭

The first place to visit is the Nossa Senhora sanctuary, it is a construction from the 18th century, it is a structure with ecclesiastical purposes, here for hundreds of years pilgrims stayed in a large division of rooms! it is currently abandoned but it is beautiful and we can take photos outside the structure!😮😮

ERMINDA DA MEMORIA🚙🚩🌍🧭

This building is basically a chapel that has a great history. It is believed that some residents of the area, when they passed through here, saw the appearance of the Virgen Nossa Senhora, that is, the Virgin Mary. We cannot enter the structure, but we can see some tiles that represent the image of the virgin, previously it was a pilgrimage site!😮😮

The lantern is older than the chapel, it was built in the 17th century, it is located more than 130 meters high, if we read the history of the lanterns this would be one of the oldest in the country, it was built because this area was very Dangerous due to the pirates who came from England and Africa, so the great Marques de Pombal gave the order to build a set of lighthouses that would illuminate the Portuguese coast!😮😮

It was definitely a great adventure for my wife and I! because we got to know a beautiful place with history, it's absolutely free, you don't pay anything here, you have rural tourism and the best view of the Atlantic that you can get in Portugal!🤯🥳
