To get here I travel with my wife about 80km from my house to the famous Alentejo area, which would be more or less the south-central Portugal, it is known for being a plains area with many crops! spend a very pleasant day and we take advantage of having dinner here in the city that surrounds the castle! because the sunset is excellent! Portugal is a very small country you can know everything in a few days, so it is an excellent tourist destination since you can see many interesting things in short vacations! Portugal es un pais muy pequeño puedes conocerlo todo en pocos dias, por lo que es un excelente destino turistico ya que puedes ver muchas cosas interesantes en vacaciones cortas! tengo la loca idea que quiero conocer todos los principales castillos del pais, y bueno ya sume otro mas al conocer el Monsaraz es muy bonito el paisaje que bordea el castillo tiene una vista excelente a algunos rios y el paisaje bonito alentejano!🙂🙂

El castillo lleva de nombre Monsaraz porque asi se llama la freguesia donde se ubica, como lo mencionaba anteriormente abarca la region de Alentejo dentro del distrito de Evora! este distrito es conocido por albergar muchas zonas de interes turisticos incluyendo la famosa iglesia de Evora construida con huesos humanos!😗😗

One of the natural aspects that makes the Castle attractive is that it is surrounded by the Guadiana river, here many water sports are practiced in summer! and at the same time the water mirror of the Alqueva dam is located! The castle is located on the border with Spain and geographically positioned on the mountain of Monsaraz😍😎
Uno de los aspectos naturales que hace atractivo el Castillo es que esta rodeado por el rio Guadiana, aqui se practican muchos deportes acuaticos en verano! y al mismo tiempo se situa el espejo de agua de la represa de Alqueva! El castillo se ubica frontera con España y geograficamente posicionado en la montaña de Monsaraz🌄⛺
When we go to the castle we observe that the region has many megalithic areas, this means that they are very old cities that were occupied by ancient civilizations such as the Romans, Muslims and Visigoths! so much so that we can see inside the castle an area with evidence of Roman occupation! Let us remember that Portugal was a site of Roman occupation between a period of 200 years, almost the entire period BC.😃😃
Cuando vamos al castillo observamos que la region presenta muchas areas megaliticas esto quiere decir que son ciudades muy antiguas que fueron ocupadas por antiguas civilizaciones como lo son los romanos, musulmanes y visigodos! tanto que podemos ver dentro del castillo un area con evidencia de ocupacion romana! recordemos que Portugal fue sitio de ocupacion romana entre un periodo de 200 años, casi todo el periodo a.C😊😊
It is incredible how a simple name can tell us a great story for example JEREZ is a derivative of the word SARISH, this name is of Muslim origin, and many cities in Portugal before being conquered kept the names of Arabic origin! Es increible como un simple nombre nos puede contar una gran historia por ejemplo JEREZ es un derivado de la palabra SARISH, este nombre es de origen Musulman, y muchas ciudades de Portugal antes de ser conquistadas mantuvieron los nombres de origen arabicos! existe mucha evidencia que los pobladores subsistian con la economia de agricultura y con los recursos que les proporsionaba el rio Guadiana!😄😄
The castle passed through many domains including the English! but when the restoration of Portugal occurred in the 16th century the castle due to its proximity to Spain was fortified and restored but years later in the 18th century it was abandoned! from 1946 the beautiful structure became a National Monument.😲😲
El castillo paso por muchos dominios incluyendo los ingleses! pero cuando ocurrio la restauracion de Portugal en el siglo 16 el castillo debido a la proximidad con España fue fortificado y restaurado pero años despues en el siglo 18 fue abandonado! a partir de 1946 la hermosa estructura paso a ser Monumento Nacional.😮🤯

Although it is a very short visit and you get to tour the Castle in an hour, every minute is worth it! Because each space in this small and ancient city tells a story, here the fabric is very commercialized, you can buy beautiful decorations with woven scarves!😍😍
Aunque es una visita muy corta y consigues recorrer el Castillo en una hora cada minuto vale la pena! porque cada espacio de esta pequeña y antigua ciudad cuenta una historia, aqui es muy comercializado el tejido, puedes comprar bonitas decoraciones con pañuelos tejidos!😍😍😘

And as usual, I couldn't leave this magical city without first trying its food. I visited this restaurant that on the ground had a view that covered the entire Alentejo landscape!😁😁
