Hoy quiero hablarles sobre una actividad que realicé hace un par de semanas atrás pero no había tenido el tiempo de compartirlo por aquí, sin embargo, tenía muchas ganas de hacerlo pues quiero hablarles sobre mi experiencia en este lugar.🥰

Today I want to tell you about an activity that I did a couple of weeks ago but I had not had the time to share it here, however, I really wanted to do it because I want to tell you about my experience in this place.🥰
Ya hace dos semanas atrás, mi grupo de estudio junto con uno de nuestros profesores, visitamos un geriátrico pues teníamos proyectado realizar una labor para los abuelitos que allí se encontraban y la actividad se basaba en darles un día lleno de mucha felicidad. Nuestro profesor nos comentó que en este geriátrico habían muchas personas mayores que no tenían familia, que los habían abandonado y otros que los visitaban muy poco, por lo que su compañía en ese lugar eran solo las enfermeras que los atendían diariamente y entre ellos mismos.
Two weeks ago, my study group together with one of our teachers, visited a nursing home because we had planned to do some work for the grandparents who were there and the activity was based on giving them a day full of happiness. Our teacher told us that in this nursing home there were many elderly people who had no family, who had abandoned them and others who visited them very little, so their company in that place were only the nurses who attended them daily and among themselves.
Esto hizo que quisiéramos aún más realizar esta actividad pues pensamos que se sentirían muy felices de recibir otra visita pero no queríamos que fuera una visita cualquiera, queríamos que realmente disfrutarán de este día así que planeamos todo lo que haríamos mientras estuviésemos ahí. Cómo son personas de edades bastante avanzadas decidimos hacer actividades que no requirieran de mucho esfuerzo. Llevamos muchas pinturas de uñas para las abuelitas y nos encargamos de pintarselas a todas las que lo deseaban, también les hicimos peinados y a los abuelitos, uno de nuestros amigos que es barbero, se encargó de hacerles cortes de cabello.😃
This made us want to do this activity even more because we thought they would be very happy to receive another visit but we didn't want it to be just any visit, we wanted them to really enjoy this day so we planned everything we would do while we were there. Since they are quite old we decided to do activities that didn't require much effort. We brought a lot of nail polish for the grandmothers and we painted the nails of all the grandmothers who wanted it, we also did their hair and one of our friends, who is a barber, was in charge of giving them haircuts.😃
Todos los compañeros se encontraban saludando y hablando con los abuelos, que realmente son muy cariñosos. Particularmente esta actividad me encantó pues muchos de los abuelitos me contaron muchas de sus historias muy interesantes mientras tomábamos una taza de café pues ese día además descubrimos que les fascina el cafecito durante la mañana. había una abuelita tan amorosa que realmente aún siento su cariño conmigo, todos son muy especiales pero particularmente con ella tuve más conexión. Además de esto, realizamos juegos de mesa ya que nos habían comentado que muchos de los abuelitos les encantaba jugar dominó y ajedrez, yo como no soy muy buena en esos juegos solo me límite a observar y animar jajajaja!😄
All the classmates were greeting and talking with the grandparents, who are really very affectionate. I particularly loved this activity because many of the grandparents told me many of their very interesting stories while we had a cup of coffee because that day we also discovered that they love coffee in the morning. There was one grandmother who was so loving that I still feel her affection with me, they are all very special but particularly with her I had more of a connection. In addition to this, we played board games as we had heard that many of the grandparents loved to play dominoes and chess, I am not very good at those games, so I just watched and encouraged them hahahaha!😄
Ya culminando repartimos muchos aperitivos que habíamos llevado con el fin de que ese día también comieran algo delicioso y diferente, desde aperitivos salados hasta dulces, además de darles frutas y galletas que ellos pudieran comer. Para cerrar con broche de oro, una de nuestras compañeras quería dar una bailoterapia pero muchos de los abuelitos ya no podías hacer tantos movimientos así que solo movían los brazos y uno de ellos si pudo hacer toda la bailoterapia y la disfrutó muchísimo por lo que nos hizo saber. Al final del día y luego de tantas actividades, comenzamos a organizar las cosas y nos despedimos de todos, dándoles las gracias por recibirnos y por todo su cariño ese día. Muchos de ellos nos dieron unas palabras de agradecimiento que causaron en mi bastante ternura pues se notaba que realmente estaban muy felicidades de tenernos ahí.🥺
At the end of the day we handed out many snacks that we had brought so that they could also eat something delicious and different, from salty snacks to sweets, in addition to giving them fruits and cookies that they could eat. To close with a flourish, one of our companions wanted to give a dance therapy but many of the grandparents could no longer do so many movements so they only moved their arms and one of them could do the whole dance therapy and enjoyed it very much so he let us know. At the end of the day and after so many activities, we began to organize things and we said goodbye to everyone, thanking them for receiving us and for all their love that day. Many of them gave us some words of thanks that made me feel quite tender because I could tell they were really happy to have us there.🥺
Creo que una de las enseñanzas más valiosas que me dejó está actividad es que no hay que olvidarnos de ellos, recordar que todos vamos a envejecer y necesitaremos al igual que ellos mucha empatía, paciencia y comprensión. Debemos ser más humanos, ya que yo no podía creer que muchos de esos abuelitos hayan sido abandonados ahí por sus familiares. Compartir con ellos fue bastante grato, ese día me sentía muy bien conmigo misma por la maravillosa labor que había realizado e invito a que lo hagan, solo intentenlo, si consideran que desean hacerlo pero no se sienten capacitados, les aseguro que al llegar ahí todo fluye de maravilla pues es una labor que se está haciendo con mucho cariño.❤️
I think that one of the most valuable lessons that this activity taught me is that we must not forget them, remember that we are all going to grow old and we will need a lot of empathy, patience and understanding, just like them. We must be more humane, as I could not believe that many of these grandparents have been abandoned by their relatives. Sharing with them was quite pleasant, that day I felt very good with myself for the wonderful work I had done and I invite you to do it, just try it, if you think you want to do it but do not feel qualified, I assure you that when you get there everything flows beautifully because it is a work that is being done with great affection.❤️
