Aquella noche fue la más fría de mi vida. Unos escasos 5 grados nos acompañaron en esa aventura que tuvimos a principio de este año. El Waraira Repano(Ávila) es una de las maravillas naturales de Venezuela, es fácil entender el porqué con sólo ver lo hermoso del paisaje.
That night was the coldest of my life. A mere 5 degrees accompanied us on that adventure we had earlier this year. The Waraira Repano (Ávila) is one of the natural wonders of Venezuela, it is easy to understand why just by seeing the beautiful landscape.
Además de sus extraordinarios paisajes, el Ávila encierra historias sorprendentes. La energía que se siente es única. Es por todo esto que me fascina subir, y en lo posible, quedarme acampando.
In addition to its extraordinary landscapes, Ávila contains surprising stories. The energy you feel is unique. It is for all this that I am fascinated by climbing, and if possible, staying camping.
Ese día subimos gran parte en el teleférico y luego continuamos nuestra travesía a pie.
That day we went up a large part in the cable car and then we continued our journey on foot.
Luego de hora y media de camino, llegamos a "El Lagunazo", el segundo lugar más alto de todo el Waraira. Su nombre se debe a que hace siglos había un gran lago allí, según la historia que los antiguos nativos contaban.
After an hour and a half of walking, we reached "El Lagunazo", the second highest place in the entire Waraira. Its name is due to the fact that centuries ago there was a large lake there, according to the story that the ancient natives told.
La vista en este sitio es mágica. Y parte del plan de ir allá, era capturar unas buenas fotos de todo ese espectáculo al amanecer. Algo de ello pueden ver en las fotos.
The view on this site is magical. And part of the plan to go there was to capture some good photos of that whole show at sunrise. You can see some of it in the photos.
La noche estuvo helada y despejada. Se veían las estrellas bañando todo el cielo. Pudimos disfrutarlo mientras comíamos y contábamos anécdotas.
The night was freezing and clear. The stars were seen bathing the entire sky. We were able to enjoy it while we ate and shared anecdotes.
Nuestra fogata no salió tan bien, pero al menos nos calentamos tratando de avivarla 😅. El resto de la noche transcurrió en escuchar los sonidos de la naturaleza y procurar mantenernos calientes.
Our campfire didn't turn out so well, but at least we warmed up trying to fan it 😅. The rest of the night was spent listening to the sounds of nature and trying to keep warm.
La claridad me despertó por la mañana. Aunque eran menos de las 6:00am, se veía como si fuese mucho más tarde. El frío era algo tremendo; sentía mis manos y pies un poco entumecidos. Pero la emoción de poder disfrutar de aquel paisaje hacía que todo lo demás no importase. Estábamos cerca del cielo.
Clarity woke me up in the morning. Even though it was less than 6:00 am, it looked like it was much later. The cold was something tremendous; my hands and feet felt a little numb. But the emotion of being able to enjoy that landscape made everything else not matter. We were close to heaven.
