¡Saludos! Hoy quiero comentarles algunas anécdotas que viví durante el rodaje de "Memorias en Duelo", un cortometraje dedicado al Karate Do dónde tuve el honor de participar. Cómo ya lo he mencionado en publicaciones anteriores, mi personaje fue el villano, y con todo lo que conlleva un papel de ese peso, puedo decir que crecí mucho como persona, actor y artista marcial durante esta experiencia.
Greetings! Today I want to comment on some anecdotes that I lived during the filming of "Memories in Duel", a short film dedicated to Karate Do where I had the honor of participating. As I have mentioned in previous posts, my character was the villain, and with everything that comes with a role of that weight, I can say that I grew a lot as a person, actor and martial artist during this experience.
Una de las partes más difíciles de realizar fue justamente cuando me tocó ser el típico "sensei malo" que maltrata a sus estudiantes 😅 cosa que indudablemente no soy y tuve que hacer un esfuerzo en que se viera así. Ensayamos un par de veces antes de la grabación lo que el director quería plasmar, y gracias a que los chicos llamados para la escena fueron estudiantes de la academia donde sigo haciendo vida como atleta, todo fue medianamente más sencillo, debido a la confianza que tengo con algunos.
One of the most difficult parts to do was precisely when I had to be the typical "bad sensei" who mistreats his students 😅 which I am certainly not and I had to make an effort to make him look like that. We rehearsed a couple of times before recording what the director wanted to capture, and thanks to the fact that the boys called to the scene were students from the academy where I continue to live as an athlete, everything was slightly easier, due to the confidence that I have. with some.
Ellos tenían que estar realizando algunas técnicas y yo debía ponerles mano dura, incitando a que se golpearan fuerte entre sÍ, causándose daño. Con el de mayor grado, un cinturón marrón, recuerdo haberle mencionado que quizás lo proyectaría al suelo, para hacer todo más dramático y agresivo 😁 Fue divertido ver la cara de asombro de muchos del equipo de cámara y sonido cuando lancé a este al suelo. Pensaron que me había enajenado.
They had to be performing some techniques and I had to put a heavy hand on them, inciting them to hit each other hard, causing damage. With the highest grade, a brown belt, I remember mentioning to him that maybe I would project it to the ground, to make everything more dramatic and aggressive 😁 It was fun to see the astonished faces of many of the camera and sound team when I threw this one to the ground. They thought I had alienated myself.
Ese mismo día se grabó una escena dónde mi personaje, al tratar tan mal a estos chicos,queda sin estudiantes, y es tan grande su indignación que patea un Makiwara(madera para golpear)y lo rompe. Hacer esta escena fue muy divertido. Pues nadie se imaginaba que saldría en una sola toma.
That same day a scene was recorded where my character, by treating these boys so badly, is left without students, and his indignation is so great that he kicks a Makiwara (wood to hit) and breaks it. Doing this scene was a lot of fun. Well, no one imagined it would come out in one shot.
La última escena que se grabó ese día,y que es luego de romper la Makiwara, se trataba de una súbita entrada en la oficina del dojo(gimnasio de karate)y lanzaría varias cosas al piso por la rabia y tacharía la cara de mi hermano menor de una foto familiar, enmarcando aún más nuestra rivalidad; mis estudiantes se habían ido con él.
The last scene that was recorded that day, and which is after breaking the Makiwara, it was a sudden entry into the dojo office (karate gym) and I would throw various things to the floor in anger and scratch my face younger brother from a family photo, further framing our rivalry; my students had gone with him.
Una de las cosas más incómodas de este día de grabación fue el calor que hacía en el estudio, pues sudaba demasiado y las cicatrices que formaban parte de mi caracterización se movían o borraban. Fue un reto mantenerlas.
One of the most uncomfortable things about this day of recording was the heat in the studio, because I was sweating too much and the scars that were part of my characterization moved or erased. It was a challenge to maintain them.
Estas y más anécdotas se me vienen a la mente cuando recuerdo este día de grabación o los que les siguieron. Definitivamente fue una experiencia inolvidable. En mis próximas publicaciones les seguiré contando al respecto, esperando puedan disfrutar del resultado de edición cuando esté listo el cortometraje y esté participando en los festivales de cine del próximo año.
These and more anecdotes come to mind when I remember this recording day or those that followed. It was definitely an unforgettable experience.
