Hello people,
Today is a very special blog for me as today is Ganesh Chaturthi and I am making a portrait of Lord Ganesha.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year to mark the birth of Lord Ganesha. The festival falls in the month of Bhadra according to Hindu Calendar. The festival is celebrated with installation of Lord Ganesh's Idols made with clay either in homes privately or in public places such as stadiums. Temporary stages in community parks are also a way of setting up places in order to the community get-together. Due to Covid-19 this time not much of community gatherings are taking place.
This is a ten-day ongoing festival and ends on the tenth day from start i.e. Ganesh Chaturthi. On the tenth day, these clay idols are carried on the shoulders of devotees and are immersed into any river, sea or any water-body nearby. Therefore it is believed that the clay idols are returned to Mount Kailash.
The festival is a celebration of Lord Ganesha's birth. Lord Ganesha is believed to be the God of new beginnings and remover of obstacles in any new or existing work/business. He is also known as God of Wisdom and Intelligence.
As the festival is celebrated collaboratively throughout India, it is also celebrated with the same level of devotion by the people of the Caribbean, Fiji, Mauritius, Europe, South-Africa and also United-States.
