I am a great enthusiast when it comes to the art of expression, whether it be music, poetry, drawing or just talking. To be able to experience others journeys through their truths is simply beautiful.

So, I thought I would try something different. I've taken some words from a few of my favourite songs and mixed them with my own that reflect my sometimes floating thoughts. It's a kind of 'mash-up musical poem'

Whispering winds amongst the trees
Misconceptions blowing like leaves

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize what you can't understand

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess

Keeping truths hidden deep inside, tongue tide,
pocket ones pride

Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood, miss "no way it's all good"

Run your fingers through my soul
Touch my core, understand me more

Feel the cracks that make me whole,
I am me, under no one's control

I've got thick skin and an elastic heart,
According to some, I am worlds apart

An approving eye is not what I seek
I am living my truth with every word that I speak
