[Esp/Eng]Llama las cosas que no son, como si fuesen.

Quiero presentar mi primera publicación en este grupo de HIVE, haciendo una breve reflexión sobre el poder del amor de los padres por sus hijos y como la sabiduría nos ayuda a solventar situaciones adversas en nuestras vidas.

I want to present my first publication in this HIVE group, making a brief reflection on the power of the love of parents for their children and how wisdom helps us to solve adverse situations in our lives.

En cierta ocasión, Thomas Alva Edison llegó a casa y le dio a su mamá una nota.

Él le comento: "Mi maestro me dio esta nota y me dijo que sólo se la diera a mi madre." Su madre, comenzó a leer la carta y sus ojos se llenaron de lágrimas cuando ella leyó en voz alta la carta que le trajo su hijo.
"Su hijo es un genio, esta escuela es muy pequeña para él y no tenemos buenos maestros para enseñarlo, por favor enséñele usted".

On one occasion, Thomas Alva Edison came home and gave his mother a note.
He commented, "My teacher gave me this note and told me to give it only to my mother." His mother, began to read the letter and her eyes filled with tears as she read aloud the letter her son brought her.
"Your son is a genius, this school is too small for him and we don't have good teachers to teach him, please you teach him."

Muchos años después, Nancy Matthews Elliott, la madre de Edison murió (a los 84 años), y él se convirtió en uno de los más grandes inventores de la humanidad, registró 1093 patentes a su nombre en Estados Unidos, además de otras en Reino Unido, Francia y Alemania.
Un día él estaba mirando algunas cosas viejas de la familia. Repentinamente él vio un papel doblado en el marco de un dibujo en el escritorio.

Él lo tomó y lo abrió. En el papel estaba escrito:

"Su hijo está mentalmente enfermo y no podemos permitirle que venga más a la escuela."

Many years later, Nancy Matthews Elliott, Edison's mother died (at the age of 84), and he became one of the greatest inventors of mankind, registering 1093 patents in his name in the United States, plus others in the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
One day he was looking through some old family things. Suddenly he saw a folded piece of paper in a drawing frame on the desk.
He picked it up and opened it. On the paper was written:

"Your son is mentally ill and we cannot allow him to come to school anymore."

Edison lloró por horas, entonces él escribió en su diario: "Thomas Alva Edison fue un niño mentalmente enfermo, pero por una madre heroica se convirtió en el genio del siglo."
La sabiduría, de esta madre, su habilidad y destreza para manejar situaciones difíciles en lugar de leer lo que realmente decía la carta, y habiendo podido hacer sentir mal a su hijo, le dio un giro completamente y ¡le inyectó seguridad y certeza a su hijo!Tomó la decisión de enseñar, instruir y lo convenció de que era un genio y este se lo creyó tanto, que creció y murió siéndolo.

Edison cried for hours, then he wrote in his diary, "Thomas Alva Edison was a mentally ill child, but because of a heroic mother he became the genius of the century."

The wisdom, of this mother, her ability and skill to handle difficult situations rather than reading what the letter actually said, and having been able to make her son feel bad, completely turned him around and injected her son with security and certainty! She made the decision to teach, instruct and convinced him that he was a genius and he believed it so much, that he grew up and died a genius.

Es asombroso el poder que tienen los padres sobre los hijos,es extraordinario el poder que tienen las palabras para empoderarnos en cualquier cosa que soñemos, principalmente si vienen de nuestros padres, maestros, guías y entrenadores también es maravilloso poder contar con alguien que confíe en nosotros aun cuando muchos otros nos desechan.

It is amazing the power that parents have over their children, it is extraordinary the power that words have to empower us in anything we dream of, especially if they come from our parents, teachers, guides and coaches, it is also wonderful to have someone who trusts us even when many others dismiss us.

Traigo a colación esta historia, de Thomas Edinson y su madre, porque estoy sosteniendo una situación similar con mi hijo Diego de 17 años, un apasionado de la disciplina de la natación y en la cual se ha enfocado y obtenido muchos triunfos a nivel nacional en categorías menores en años anteriores.

I bring up this story, of Thomas Edinson and his mother, because I am going through a similar situation with my 17 year old son Diego, a passionate swimmer who has focused on and won many victories at the national level in the younger categories in previous years.

A partir del año 2020, a raíz de la pandemia, la práctica de toda actividad y los entrenamientos fueron suspendidos y para males peores se contagió con covid-19 a mediados de ese año y le produjeron muchos dolores musculares, pero no eran tan notorios porque non estaba desarrollando una actividad física fuerte, solamente realizaba ejercicios con su propio peso y bicicleta estática.

In 2020, as a result of the pandemic, the practice of any activity and training were suspended and for worse evils he was infected with covid-19 in the middle of that year and he had many muscular pains, but they were not so noticeable because he was not developing a strong physical activity, he only performed exercises with his own weight and static bicycle.

En el año 2021, comenzaron a flexibilizar las restricciones y en el mes de Febrero de este año, volvió a los entrenamientos en piscina, con nuevas expectativas, nuevas perspectivas y muchas ilusiones.

In the year 2021, they began to relax the restrictions and in February of this year, he returned to training in the pool, with new expectations, new perspectives and many illusions.

Lamentandolo mucho en su primera competencia, en Marzo del año en curso, al final de su primera prueba 100 mts libre, salió de la piscina con muchos calambres y dolores musculares en las piernas, y fue necesaria la intervención de los paramédicos, lo colocamos en agua con hielo, masajes y lo arroparon con unas cobijas. Logró nadar dos pruebas más, pero usó menos intensidad, únicamente para cumplir el compromiso.

He was very sorry in his first competition, in March of this year, at the end of his first race 100 mts free, he left the pool with a lot of cramps and muscle pain in his legs, and it was necessary the intervention of paramedics, we put him in water with ice, massages and wrapped him with blankets. He managed to swim two more races, but used less intensity, just to fulfill the commitment.

Siguió entrenando, se le suministraron muchos complejos vitamínicos y poco a poco fueron desapareciendo los dolores y todo indicaba que se estaba recuperando físicamente, pero en las siguientes competencias en Septiembre de ese mismo año, clasificatorias para unos Juegos Nacionales, al final de cada prueba que realizaba, salía exhausto y con muchos dolores en la piernas y brazos, con todo y eso logró hacer dos marcas técnicas para poder participar en la copa FEVEDA, competencia más importante del calendario de la natación en Venezuela.

He continued training, he was given many vitamin complexes and little by little the pains were disappearing and everything indicated that he was recovering physically, but in the following competitions in September of that same year, qualifying for the National Games, at the end of each test he performed, he left exhausted and with many pains in his legs and arms, with all that he managed to make two technical marks to participate in the FEVEDA cup, the most important competition in the calendar of swimming in Venezuela.

Ya mentalizado, para nadar únicamente dos pruebas individuales y los relevos representado al estado Anzoátegui, y digo mentalizado porque él estaba acostumbrado a nadar sus seis pruebas permitidas y a ganarlas o quedar entre los tres primeros, regresó de nuevo otra frustración, vuelve a repetirle el Covid-19 y ahora si es verdad que se desanimó y se complicó, ya que las secuelas de este contagio fueron mayores y tuvo necesariamente que dejar de nadar.

Already mentally prepared to swim only two individual events and the relays representing the state of Anzoátegui, and I say mentally prepared because he was used to swim his six allowed events and to win them or to be among the first three, another frustration returned, Covid-19 came back again and now it is true that he got discouraged and complicated, since the consequences of this contagion were greater and he had to necessarily stop swimming.

En Diciembre del año 2021, se informa que se van a realizar los Juegos Nacionales Juveniles en Febrero del 2022( juegos que habían sido pospuestos en Venezuela desde el año 2013) y comienza a entrenar nuevamente, con muy poca preparación y con mucha incertidumbre logra participar en estos juegos y obtiene el 9no lugar en 50 mts espalda y lograron dos 4tos lugares en los relevos, estos resultados para cualquier atleta parecería buenos resultados, pero para Diego no y eso lo ha venido llevando a desanimarse, a bajar su autoestima, a sentir que su mente quiere hacer algo pero su cuerpo no le responde y siente vergüenza de no poder dar los resultados que él estaba acostumbrado a obtener y de los comentarios de otros nadadores y entrenadores que piensan y dicen que su carrera como nadador está acabada.

In December 2021, it is reported that the National Youth Games will be held in February 2022 (games that had been postponed in Venezuela since 2013) and begins to train again, with very little preparation and with much uncertainty manages to participate in these games and gets 9th place in 50m backstroke and achieved two 4th places in the relays, These results for any athlete would seem good results, but not for Diego and that has been leading him to get discouraged, to lower his self-esteem, to feel that his mind wants to do something but his body does not respond and feels ashamed of not being able to give the results he was used to get and the comments of other swimmers and coaches who think and say that his career as a swimmer is over.

Este mismo año, en el mes de Mayo también participó en el Nacional de Natación por categorías en Valencia, donde no obtuvo los resultados esperados y eso aumenta su desesperación y hasta yo mismo, siento algo de frustración por no haber podido revertir esa situación.

This same year, in the month of May, he also participated in the National Swimming National by categories in Valencia, where he did not get the expected results and that increases his despair and even myself, I feel some frustration for not having been able to reverse this situation.

Hace poco, el fin de semana pasado( 22 y 23 de julio 2022) se realizaron unas competencias locales clasificatorias para El nacional de natación abierto y no participó, y yo sé con qué dolor se tomó esa decisión, porque la natación de alto rendimiento es su pasión. El sigue entrenando, se le están practicando nuevos exámenes y en próximas publicaciones les estaré comentando, como se está desarrollando este caso.

Recently, last weekend (July 22 and 23, 2022) there were some local qualifying competitions for the national open swimming and he did not participate, and I know with what pain this decision was taken, because high performance swimming is his passion. He continues training, he is undergoing new tests and in future publications I will be commenting on how this case is developing.

Para concluir creo y estoy convencido que debemos llamar las cosas que no son , como si fuesen. Eso es fe. Creo que no podemos dejarnos influir por quienes menosprecien nuestros sueños, tenemos que aprender, desafiarnos nosotros mismos hasta alcanzar los objetivos que hayamos trazado. Todo lo que queramos hacer, ¡adelante, hágalo!
Lleva a cabo tus sueños, y no hagas caso de lo que «los demás» puedan decir y pensar.

To conclude, I believe and I am convinced that we must call things that are not, as if they were. That is faith. I believe that we cannot be influenced by those who belittle our dreams, we have to learn, to challenge ourselves until we reach the goals we have set. Whatever we want to do, go ahead and do it!
Follow through with your dreams, and ignore what "others" may say and think.
