I remember back in 2009 when I was just starting to build numerous blogs there was one that really stuck out in my portfolio. It was called the Redneck Celebrity Blogger and it was inspired by Mr. Celebrity Blogger himself, Perez Hilton.
Although...
my celebrity blog failed to gain any traction ( I ended up scrapping it after about a year) Perez Hilton a.k.a Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. and his celebrity blog has continued to reach new pinnacles of growth each and every year.
So how much does Perez Hilton's blog brings in a year ??
Doing some research, the consensus is that he makes about $500K per month. A lot of that is advertisers who pay Perez a set fee to get advertising slots on his blog. It's all about eyeballs and traffic !
How did Perez get so big and rich??
Well of course a little luck does not hurt. But I saw an interview with him a few years back on MTV's cribs. He said that he had so much passion for blogging and mingling with celebrities that he would go on for days on end blogging around the clock. He would lock himself in his house and cut communication from friends, family etc..etc.. to concentrate on his blog. And his blog only.
Conclusion...
so if you lock yourself in your room and blog around the clock will you make $500K a month ?? Well, the odds are strongly against that from happening. As I said earlier a little luck and being at the right place at the right time does in fact help... tremendously I would guess.
But I know with some hard work and persistence and the right creativity, blogging can be fun and dare I say a money maker as well.
