Me and my wife have watched 5 out of 7 episodes (1 hour per show) of the Netflix docu-series called "Tiger King".
And honestly I cannot figure out whether to laugh or cry. Smile or Frown. Or to declare whether it has been a waste of 5 hours or worth every single minute.
The Series centers...
around this eccentric 50 something year old named Joe Exotic. He touts the fact he owns the largest private big cat zoo in the world ( located in Oklahoma). He is a gay, loudmouth, flamboyant, bossy, gun toting, and just over the top person who flaunts his redneck style blonde curl mullet. He loves to blow up things on his zoo grounds and just is crazy as hell.
Much of the show...
revolves around his feud with a woman named Carole Baskin. She owns a big cat conservatory in Florida. She has PETA on her side and they try discredit Joe Exotic and his big cat breeding factory in Oklahoma where it costs $60,000 a month alone to keep his lions and tigers fed. And at one point he has a thriving business where people come from all around paying $600 or more per person to hold baby tigers and get pics with them etc..etc..
But Baskin tries to interrupt all that.
The show...
also revolves around various businessmen and local characters who try to take over Joe Exotic's business and the troubles that soon ensue because of this.
We just finished episode 5...
and we will finish the other 2 episodes in a couple of hours.
All I can say is once you start watching you won't wanna stop. It's captivating to see this Joe Exotic and his cavalier Life and the business side of private zoos.
I give it a 7 out of 10...
Not any higher because it really gets a little too "dark" for me (Joe lands in jail because of a 'murder for hire' plot against Carole Baskin) and the series seems to ramble off track with the subject matter and the different people involved. A little hard to keep up with sometimes.
But for non stop drama it's worth at least testing the waters and watching a few of the episodes.
Test away,
Robert Andrew
