We were brought up to believe that money is the root of all evil. This made us so scared of having too much papers in our hands or better still, it made us terrified of having huge figures in our bank accounts. There are so many people, specifically from the place I come from that still believe in this ideology. While this is true - I dare not condemn that fact; there are people who have taken the statement way beyond the original meaning of it. It made many of us scared to chase after a dream opportunity we suddenly came across because we were concerned if this was truly the legit way, or what will they (the people we refer to as teachers or mentors) say.
I have two friends who have fallen victim of this ideology. One is currently on this hive blockchain. When Bitcoin came out newly, it was tagged to be Anti-Chtist! A way the world will be deceived and as many who venture into it will lose their soul. Yea, some many others even confirmed to have seen visions of such in a revelation from God knows where. Due to this claims, these two friends failed to invest in bitcoin even when they had the resources to invest reasonable amount at that time bitcoin was still very much low like the price of Hive. Same thing goes for Ethereum and many other crypto that have come and gone high beyond clear explanations.
It was still this same reason a friend of mine that I tried introducing to Hive was willing to Google search the source of crypto currency for roughly 3 straight hours. But Why? Because bitcoin's logo or coin is like that of gold, and he had the belief that anything made of gold is pure evil and shouldn't be made use of (except for buildings). He was also confused with the fact that money can actually be made from complex calculations done on some sort of computer and stuffs like that and gained so much value that it became an acceptable means of exchange.
I am not excluded of these myself as I have in time past push away many opportunities that would have turned me into a multi millionaire by now. Thinking I was avoiding falling into the mighty trap of Money, I was made to sacrifice many chances, which I later came to understand that these chances I have sacrificed, were not as evil as I had tagged them to be. I am not condemning beliefs, neither am I condemning the Holy Books. All I am trying to point out is the fact we are always taking life decisions based on what we are being told and not what we have come to find out on our own.
We suddenly become to reluctant to even work for a better future. Most will always back up their laziness with the claims that they have no say in their future. I guess they have forgotten or probably have gotten no idea that all it takes to make wealth resides within that little brain of ours and we should quit expecting some magical or unexplainable miracle to bring that to reality.
