Hello , every great fantasy story begins in a tavern, Gandalf told Thorin oakenshield to march to Erebor to reclaim their homeland and kill the beast in a tavern, and Frodo with his friend met strider in a tavern ( same tavern to be exact ) The only thing that taverns are not lacking is a good beer and big-folk size beer mugs.. Too much for a hobbit but great nonetheless.
I was reading LOTR the other day ( I often does when I have a feeling , its like being thistry, you go and drink water. So I read middle earth occasionally ) and I remember the movie scene where hobbits order their full liter beers in Prancing Pony.
We often talk about fantasy stories with friends and occasionally play Dungeons and Dragons. Before the pandemic happen we came together and play in a table with miniatures and stuff but lately we play on discords. Okey okey you are here for the mug. The Mug, oh yes. We needed a logo for our D&D group quite some time and as the artist of the group I step up and designed one.
This mug is the result of a long twitch stream. It is sculpted in Zbrush first and painted in Photoshop CC. All live and you can watch it ! yes yes you can. Click the twitch icon below and go to my channel. Make sure to follow me there to catch me live and we can chat!
you can watch my previous sculpts in twitch channel
Okey back to mug. Here is how it came out of Zbrush. I didnt put much detail on the 3D sculpt because eventually i'll export it to Photoshop and paint all the other details there. So I only needed the general shape and feel of the model.
From now on its Photoshop CC's time to shine. I exported the model from zbrush to photoshop and begin to paint. I am colorblind so, I already picked the right colors befor the stream from the reference images. I use them to paint the mug. Working with fully modelled zbrush sculpt come in handy here. We have all the shadow information from the sculpt and I dont need to worry about that. Cool ! Sorry about the overlays, they are screenshots from the streams.
This mug will be used in the logo but more on that later. Maybe you'll see it being used in the future in our dnd campaign.
See you
