Living near the historic district of Cumana has its privileges, one of which is being able to visit the city's iconic sites on a daily basis. However, one of the difficulties experienced in this area is the shortage of drinking water in the Miramar, Mundo Nuevo, Las Parcelas, and El Mirador neighborhoods when the water pump breaks down.
When this happens, many people can be seen going to homes located in San Francisco to take advantage of the water that comes through the old aqueduct, which still supplies the streets surrounding La Ermita, Plaza Rivero (renamed Plaza Badaracco Bermudez), Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia, and the state government building.
The Basilica of Santa Ines is located precisely at these coordinates, and on this occasion, I couldn't help but stop on my way to San Francisco to contemplate its majesty for a while. I can attest that very pleasant masses are usually held there, and its procession of the Nazarene is the most popular in the city.
This area still retains its colonial charm, and it is gratifying to walk through these places and think that several generations of Cumanese also did so, enjoying the tranquility that reigns here. There, the Church of Santa Ines continues to withstand the passage of time, as if it were the nucleus of other buildings more than a century old, confirming that our grandparents knew what they were doing.

Vivir cerca del Casco Histórico de Cumaná tiene sus privilegios y entre ellos está poder transitar por lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad de forma cotidiana. Puedo dar fe de que allí suelen realizarse misas muy agradables y su procesión del Nazareno es la más concurrida de la ciudad.
Esta zona aún conserva su encanto colonial y es gratificante caminar por estos lugares y pensar que varias generaciones de cumaneses también lo hicieron, disfrutando de la tranquilidad que se respira por acá. Allí sigue la Iglesia de Santa Inés resistiendo al tiempo, como si fuera el núcleo de otras edificaciones con más de un siglo de antigüedad, confirmando que nuestros abuelos sabían lo que hacían.
