When I was a kid I used to live next to the stadium and was able to go see the matches many times, then I moved out of town and stopped going to the stadium.
Last weekend, a friend lend us their FC Barcelona membership cards and me and my wife had a chance to take the Museum and Stadium tour on Saturday and go to see the match on Sunday night.
We were lucky, Saturday was a warm and sunny day and we spend a couple of hours visiting the museum with all trophies and images of the club's history starting from a bronze statue of Johann Cruyff who changed the story of this club when he joined the team back in the seventies. Under his name you can read the sentence he told the players when he was the manager, the first champions league final won by the club. "Get out there and enjoy"
The tour starts in the museum, with a lot of images from the past with the different stadiums until Camp Nou which means New Stadium in Catalan. It will be renovated at the end of this season. I usually do not buy souvenirs when visiting sights but since the stadium will disappear the way it is right now I decided to get a coin you can purchase at several vending machines.
As you can see in the images and the coin, there is only one side covered, after the renovation, all seats will be covered as you can see in this simulated image.
We visited the areas where the 5 Champions League cups and images are as well as the section with the 7 golden balls Messi won while he was playing in the club.
Later on we had a chance to visit the dressing rooms, the press conference the stairs the players go through before jumping into the grass, and the empty field.
Then, on Sunday I came back with my son to see the match FC Barcelona was playing against Sevilla FC. It was awesome to remember many of the sensations I had when I was a kid. The match ended up 3-0 so we had a chance to watch three amazing goals and come back home with a nice smile on our faces.
