Some of you may already know POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol). The project started several years ago at the Eth Denver hackathon. They use the Gnosis chain (formerly Xdai) so they can sponsor cheap transactions and offer a nice experience for events to give away their attendance NFT. Once you get your POAP NFT on Gnosis you can also bridge it to Ethereum if you wish to do so.
Their mobile app and NFT dispenser tools make it quite easy for anyone new to blockchain to be able to get their first NFT for free.
Now they have decided to launch a new initiative, the POAP Global Adventure using NFT technology. It is similar to the geocaching games that were so popular when GPS devices started getting cheap for everyone to enjoy.
POAP Global is a program where anyone can propose a location and its corresponding POAP design, after their approval, the POAP sender will get an NFC dispenser he/she can locate in the physical place corresponding to the POAP and any user walking by can harvest the NFT.
There will be analytics to see how many ppl are "catching" the POAP so you can later decide if you want to offer collectors any additional benefit using token gating or redeeming physical products.
I am anxious to see how the program launches and evolves but I believe this is a very nice and cool way to engage an audience into using web3 technology with easy to onboard already tested tools gamifying the whole experience.
