Last Sunday, while in Portugal, a friend suggested we visit the flea market in Castelo Branco. It runs every Sunday and we decided to go and take a look. It is usually set on the avenue going from the town hall to the bus station but this time there was the Christmas fair there so it was located in the big walking plaza in the center of the city.
There were several sellers with all kinds of old stuff and I started checking the furniture from old houses to agricultural tools.
I love talking with the sellers and learning about the stories behind these tools. Some of them are unique and if you restore them, they can still be very useful. I am always interested in learning what they were used for.
We then stopped by a sign booth, where you could find all kinds of car stuff such as pictures, coffee shelves, and signs.
I have a special love for old car-related stuff. I know these are not old coffee cups, but the old logos on them captured my attention. I may come back some other day to see if I can find them again and get a few of them. I used to drive around my Vespa when I was a teenager and the style of those old bikes reminds me of my younger years.
We finally started a conversation with the seller of this place. He was getting rid of a bunch of stuff from his old house. I loved the old phone and record player, as well as the radio in the top photo of this post.
Then he showed me this fox he hunted many years ago and decided to dissect it on a tiny surfboard and carrying an old photo camera. Apparently he had many dissected animals in the house and his wife told him to get rid of some :)
