Are you the kind of person who loves the rain? Do you feel giddy and excited when you hear those drops fall on the ground? Do you enjoy having a cup of hot coffee, sitting on the porch and watch as rain pours from the sky? Then you and me, my friend, are Pluviophiles.
I've always loved the rain! I love the smell of it and the atmosphere. I'm more eager for the rainy season than summer. Much to the chagrin of my mother, I would rather walk in the rain without an umbrella than with one. I'm not saying I enjoy a typhoon or anything like that! I'm writing about a regular rainstorm. Rain just creates a sense of peace and calm. It's like everything just stands still and all you could hear are the rhythmic beat of dropping water.
I've always thought that I was unique, in a sense, since most people are disappointed when it rains. The song "Rain rain go away" says as much. However, the more I researched this, the more I learned that there are people who like the rain too! According to this article here are some traits of Pluviophiles:
Rain lovers are mostly introverts
Yup, I'm the guy who shuns parties and big gatherings.
Rain lovers are simple in nature
Home-brewed coffee is the best coffee!
Here is one of my favorite description of rain lovers which I can attest is 100% true (you can check the whole article here):
Nothing makes a person live life more fully like knowing how fleeting it can be. While they enjoy dancing between raindrops and singing every “rain” song they can think of, rain lovers can also be deeply introspective. A stormy day provides the perfect opportunity to contemplate life. As they look at swiftly moving clouds and wet leaves falling from trees, they think about their own passing days.
So if you've never tried bathing and willingly get soaked in the rain, try it sometimes. You may never know what sorrow or problem that it washes off of your soul.
Here is a video of our neighborhood that I've just recorded earlier this afternoon while it's raining. Don't you just love the sound of falling rain on your roof?
Are you also a rain lover? Let's discuss!
