In English: In Yakutia (Sakha Republic) Yakutsk city, the temperature can reach 71°C (-95°F)
These are very extreme temperatures. It's hard to breathe outside. But all these difficulties do not interfere with enjoying the Christmas tree, in the coldest city on earth.
I don’t remember anywhere else there was such beauty as here. Especially when Christmas or New Year comes. There are many beautiful places on earth, but for some reason here in Yakutia is the most beautiful Christmas tree. Maybe some other tree can compete with the Yakut tree in beauty. But, shrouded in fog, it looks special. Besides, you know that you are on the very outskirts of the planet. This creates a completely different sensation, emptiness and tranquillity.

Text version of the video:
Hello, I'm Svetlana
Everybody knows what is a Christmas Tree.
But, could you try to image the most extraordinary
exceptional Christmas Tree?
It's a Christmas Tree in the most coldest
city on Earth!
Yakutsk, the capital of Yakutia.
It's a place, where I was born.
Yakut - is one of the biggest national minority
of Russia.
And as aborigines people, they have a strong
and beautiful culture.
So even such European events as Christmas,
Yakutia spends in their own way.
The Christmas Tree of Yakutsk placed on the
main city square of Yakutsk, a square covered
with a snow and shrouded with a strong white
fog, where the temperature -70 degree outside
makes the air stand still.
There in the most unusual entourage the pine
tree stands, lighten up with the beautiful
eye catching Yakut patterns, which you won't
see anywhere else.
The blue and violet, pink colours of the patterns
make it look like if you are inside a fairy-tale.
The tree surrounded by a fence, made of ice
breaks.
At night, all the scene illuminated with a
yellow moon breaking through the fog.
The picture amazing!
When I was little, I also use to visit Yakut
Christmas Tree.
As for the child, the impression was outstanding!
The funny thing is that at that moment.
I didn't realize that this king of Christmas
tree, I won't see childhood, I thought, every
child has the same tree in their town, and
there's nothing unusual about that, I won't
even worry about it.
Well, the tree looked different than the one
you see on the picture, but that's not the
point.
The point is - the entourage, surrounding
it!
Thick white fog, the yellow moon breaking
through that, so i could not even understand
on which planet I was at that moment.
I really, really believed that all that scene
is happening on the other planet, as it looked
completely odd!
But since I found out how the Christmas Tree
looks like in other places, (I can't even
remember where I saw it, maybe in magazine
or on TV) - don't even ask me!
But I changed my mind and realized, this kind
of show is possible only here - in Yakutsk.
So when you grow up surrounded by such beauty,
you have very different memories, than the
other children.
I still have that feeling, that I lived right
behind Santa Claus.
Like if he would hide behind the next snowdrift,
and just will come out in a minute and shout
- "Hey, kids!
Common, I am here!
If you catch me up, I'll give you a gift!".
But we never catch him, but the feeling is
still with me.
So, that's all for today.
Bye-bye!
