Dalai Lama
Hello #Hivers! We all know that feeling of losing. Whether you strike out in a baseball game, fail a test you studied for, or don't get a job you really wanted, and the truth is it hurts, it becomes very easy to feel sad, get angry, or just want to give up completely. In reality I am yet to meet with anyone who truly likes the feeling of losing, but after the lose or whatever the failure or shortcoming or whatever the problem might be, as they say every dark cloud does bear a silver lining, I believe in each lose we go through there always exist a secret gift, and hence the words of Lama,
If you lose, don't lose the lesson!
When we take a moment to reflect on what happens when we lose, it forces one to stop and think: Why did I lose the game? Maybe one needed to practice more, or why did I fail the test? Maybe I needed a better study mode, or I needed to seek the assistance of a teacher. The thing with losing is that it shines a very bright light on our weaknesses and shortcomings as humans caught up in our unique dance of existence and living, untill fate ultimately wins: death! Losing shows one exactly what one needs to majorly focus on. For truly without lose, how would we otherwise know what we are bad at and where effort is needed in order for one to be ultimately better than we were.
Taking one's time to find the lessons contained in each of our loses, one turns a negative into a positive. One is now much more smarter, and stronger, than one was before whatever the loss. Thanks to the new information gathered after the loss, one is aware of what not to do, the next time such a scenario does arise. Ultimately loss, becomes a teacher, a strict one at that, but ultimately the best. The lessons we mostly learn from failing are often the ones we remember for the rest of our lives, they build and shape our character, and ultimately make us tougher beings.
So, the next time you lose at something, let yourself be sad for a little bit. It’s okay to feel disappointed. But after that, put on your thinking cap, ask yourself, "What can I learn from this?" Find the lesson, grab ahold of it, and don't let it go. That lesson is the key to doing better next time. If you learn it well, then you haven't really lost at all.
Have a blessed week!
Cheers!
