Mother’s Day is one of those holidays where basically the whole world looked at each other and said: “Yep…we are definitely keeping this one.” 😄💐
But the funny thing is…not every country celebrates it on the same date. Some celebrate in March, some in May, some later in the year. Humanity really said: “There is no perfect date…but moms deserve SOMETHING before they completely lose patience with us.” 😂
And honestly…they deserve it.
Our lovely mothers literally gave us life. They carried us for 9 months while suffering quietly through pain, stress, weird food cravings and all the crazy pregnancy stuff. And then comes the final boss battle…giving birth 😭😂
Now listen…I don’t have kids so I can’t personally confirm how painful it is…but after hearing stories from my mom and friends? Yeah nope…respect level instantly MAXED OUT 💀
But hey moms…let’s be honest for one second…you did participate in some unprotected romantic activities with your husband 😂😂 so technically you knew the risks hahaha.
I still called my mother today even though in Slovenia Mother’s Day is apparently next week? I think? Honestly…I had to ask Google because I had no idea 😂😂
But she spent a big part of her childhood in Germany so BOOM…double Mother’s Day privileges 😄💐
And seriously…she deserves all the nice wishes and gratefulness for simply being here, alive, breathing and dealing with my nonsense for years 😂❤️
Oh yeah…and thanks to my father too I guess 😂
He did contribute a little bit to the project after all 😭😂
Ok soooo…history timeeeee 📚😂
The modern Mother’s Day started in the United States thanks to a woman named Anna Jarvis back in the early 1900s. She wanted a special day to honor mothers and all the invisible superhero work they do every single day.
Then in 1914, the second Sunday of May officially became Mother’s Day in America and a lot of countries copied the idea after that.
Why this exact date?
Because it matched a memorial event Anna Jarvis held for her own mother. And honestly…Sunday is the perfect day for moms anyway 😂
People are free, restaurants become fully booked in 12 seconds, flower prices suddenly go to the moon, and social media turns into emotional chaos. 😂
Meanwhile 90% of us forgot to call our mom last Tuesday 😭😂
But Mother’s Day actually goes WAY further back than Instagram and breakfast in bed.
Ancient Greeks and Romans already had festivals celebrating mother goddesses thousands of years ago. So humans have basically always celebrated motherhood…we just upgraded it with flowers, chocolates and panic-buying gifts at the last second 😂
At the end of the day, the meaning is simple.
Mothers do an insane amount for us without expecting much back. So humanity created one special day to say thank you, give hugs, buy flowers and maybe pretend for 24 hours that we were not stressful little goblins as children 😅💖
