Hi Hive,
It's another beautiful and weekend day to share with you about the development and growth of my broiler chickens I brought two weeks ago when they are two weeks old. I don't want my cage to feel empty at all and that's why I bought four of them because I love raising broiler chicken.
My broiler chicken business have stopped since I have moved to a new apartment due to lack of space and all I can do right now is just to continue nurturing few numbers of broiler in this little cage I made by myself.
I found myself sitting quietly in front of my broiler cage this morning, just taking a look and observing the birds and enjoying the calmness of the day. But it didn’t take long before the sun began to stretch its light across my bird's cage, and something interesting happened.
My birds, just four in number and they are now at 4 weeks old gently instinctively moved toward the sunlight. One after the other, they settled into that warm spot for a while, gently sitting down quietly as if they understood the value of that moment.
Watching them made me pause and reflect. It wasn’t just a random behavior but it was natural wisdom at work.
Sunlight reay plays a crucial role in the healthy development of broiler chickens, especially at this stage. At 4 weeks, they are in a rapid growth phase, and being exposed to sunlight supports this in several ways.
First, sunlight helps their bodies in producing Vitamin D, which is very crucial for proper calcium absorption. This directly impacts bone strength which is something every broiler farmer always wants to get right to avoid leg problems.
Apart from that, sunlight also helps to improves their overall immune system. Birds that get regular exposure to sunlight tend to be more resistant to common infections. I have noticed my birds look more active and alert after these sun moments, which tells me their bodies are responding positively well.
And there is also a behavioral benefit. Sunlight provides warmth, helping them regulate their body temperature naturally. They spread out calmly instead of crowding or showing signs of stress, like I saw this morning. This creates a more relaxed and balanced environment in the cage which is good for broiler.
I felt a quiet sense of satisfaction while looking at my four birds today. They are growing properly, responding naturally to their environment, and showing signs of good health. Sometimes, it’s in these kimd of little, simple moments that you realize you’re doing something right.
Farming isn’t always loud or dramatic and sometimes, it’s just birds in the sun, growing exactly as they should be.
