Hi Everyone,
It's with great pleasure that I'm welcoming everyone to my blog and I hope you're having a great day and wonderful weekend. I will like to share with you new update regarding my broilers bird because it's been a while since I last blog about them.
I once made a blog about how keeping broilersbird for a long time is a waste of resources and not profitable and that is the situation I find myself. One of the most challenging thing about broilersbird is marketing. Though, this is not my first time of raising broiler birds as this my second batch but due to some situation the demand for broilersbird has not been promising.
Some of the challenges have been facing recently regarding my broilers bird is the pressure of buying more feeds to maintain their weight, but the greatest challenges of all that have been facing is about keeping their pen clean.
Keeping my birds pen clean has really been a tough and stressful for due to the rate at which their pen get dirty and wet as well and the major cause of this is because of the rainy season and the location of my bird's pen which was placed under the mango tree at one corner of the backyard.
My birds pen was constructed during dry season when the heat is too much and the reason why I selected such location for my birds is prevent heat and place that have access to fresh air and that's the reason why I have to erected the pen on the mango tree but the it is another case during this rainy season as I have to keep packing the litters from time to time to prevent the birds from being infected with diseases and to prevent odours from disturbing my neighbors.
Presently, I changed my birds litters in the space of three days because the rain keep falling consecutively and it is really hard for the sun to get in to my birds pen since it was located under the mango tree to provide a shade for the birds. Anytime the rain fall, the floor of the pen easily got wet since the sun couldn't get access to my bird's pen to absorbed or dried it up and this is the reason why I have to keep changing the litter every three days since I don't have any other options.
I now understand that the shade is only effective during the dry season but during the rainy season it gives me more work to do as I have to keep changing the litters to make sure the birds are in good shape.
As I got to my birds pen last night, my objectives is to fill their feeders with feeds and fill up their drinkers as well, but in getting there, I noticed everywhere has already been messed up and bad odours are coming from the pen. Without wasting much of the time, I get to work immediately by packing out the dirty and wet litters and replaced it with new, dry and warm litters to make sure that the birds are comfortable and I believe that keeping their pen clean is the best way to keep them healthy.
It takes a while to get the job done because changing bird litters is very stressful especially when you're doing in the space of three days like I am. I pretty much know that I don't have any other options right now than to keep them safe for me to have a chance of having a good sales and cover up all the capital have spent so far because I believe it will be very tough for me to obtain any gain from this second batch of broilers bird as I have already been spending out of budget. My objectives is to sell them off when they reach six weeks which I believe is the right time to sell them, but right now my birds are nine weeks and two days. I believe that I will be able to sell them off in this new week as I have already started seeing a green light in the broilersbird market and I will be happy if I am able to do that because the stress and the pressure is too much for me to bare.
